A much better and less expensive alternative August 13, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I just received my TEAC unit today and I put the return paperwork on it and sent it right back to Amazon without opening it. Nothing was wrong with the unit. I have nothing against TEAC as I own a reel-to-reel and a cassette deck and both are outstanding. I had debated this for well over a year and sure enough as soon as I ordered it I found a better alternative - one that is way less money, does not require an engineering degree nor runs through your PC's soundcard. Check it out on Amazon - "Xitel INport Deluxe". Xitel INport Deluxe [Record From Your Stereo to Your Computer] It comes with cords and everything. Check out all the reviews on Amazon and especially on Xitel's site. Sony uses Xitel products. You can even download and print the manual (I was unsure about Vista). It shows you how simple it is and the cost is 70% less than the TEAC alternative. It works as advertsied. I found it locally, but Amazon has it $10 less than retail. A Best Buy! If you're missing equipment like a computer, the TEAC is the way to go that's not too complicated.
another home run for Amazon July 4, 2008 Great product with price and service to match. Contacted seller with what I thought was a problem and received almost an instantaneous reply.
Door for CD did not open. May 18, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
When the product arrived I plugged it in and the door for inserting the |CD did not open. I returned the product for a refund.
Better than expected May 17, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I was looking for the cheapest CD recorder I could find just to record weekly sermons to distribute to the homebound and elderly. I found the recorder easy to use, high quality, and it does wonders transferring my old LPs to CD.
Good Unit - simple & bare bones, just what I wanted. April 20, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought the TEAC CD RW880 last week. I've got it hooked up to a Kenwood KR A4040 Receiver which lacks the four extra audio jacks needed to plug the CD recorder into. I had to (temoprarily) unplug the Yamaha Dual Cassette deck so I could connect the CD recorder. I'll have to by some Y-Splitter cables so I can reconnect the cassette deck later this week.
I have some cassettes I recorded off many of the Chicago radio stations and want to transfer some to CD. The drive belt on my Pioneer PL600 Turntable died three days before I received the CD reacorder. I'm waiting to get the belts from Pioneer so I can start recording my LP's.
I recorded 2 CD's of songs off the radio. I also copied some pre-recorded CD's for use in the car. Of the 47 songs I recorded from the CD's, the CD Recorder only missed automatically inserting one track break. And I didn't even set the press the auto button.
I'm using TDK Music CD-R disc to record on. They sound and play fine in the Teac CD RW880, the Pionner PD-F506, mother's Bose Wave and my Buick. I got them from Amazon too. The unit was shipped rather fast. The corner of the box had a slight crush mark on it an there was a hole torn in the top of the box large enough to insert four fingers. There was no damage to the unit though.
It was easy to hook up. The directions were pretty straight forward. At the present I'm not using the remote control, I prefer to use the buttons on the recorder. My only complaint is the unit is black. I wish they would go back to the silver faced panels like we had in the 70's. They were much easier to read.
I wanted a simple unit. I didn't want the multi-disc player/CD recorder that Sony had to offer.
