Smart, Powerful Design
The nüvi 270 is built with a high-sensitivity WAAS-enabled GPS receiver for extreme accuracy, as well as an SD card slot for storing your media and additional navigation tools, and a USB interface for loading data. All this is wrapped up in a package that measures 3.8 x 2.8 x .8 inches (W x H x D) and weighs just 5.2 ounces. The nüvi 270's 3.5-inch (diagonal) display is touchscreen-enabled, making it a cinch to control the device with your fingertips. A rechargeable lithium-ion battery provides up to five hours of battery life depending on use. Navigate with Ease
nüvi 270 comes ready to go right out of the box with preloaded City Navigator NT street maps, including a hefty points of interest (POIs) database with hotels, restaurants, fuel, ATMs and more. Simply touch the color screen to enter a destination, and nüvi takes you there with 2D or 3D maps and turn-by-turn voice directions. In addition, nüvi 270 accepts custom points of interest (POIs), such as school zones and safety cameras and lets you set proximity alerts to warn you of upcoming POIs.
Go Beyond Navigation
Navigation is just the beginning. nüvi 270 features many travel tools including JPEG picture viewer, world travel clock with time zones, currency converter, measurement converter, calculator and more. It also comes with Garmin Lock, an anti-theft feature, and configurable vehicle icons that let you select car-shaped graphics to show your location on the map. Optional plug-in SD cards for our line of Garmin Travel Guides and Garmin SaversGuide provide detailed data for attractions and information on nearby merchants offering discounts, so you can customize nüvi for your travel needs.

Easy to use: don't pay list price! October 12, 2008 I found this to be very easy to use and quite intuitive. I bought the optional bean-bag mount, which works better than the suction cup mount. The Nuvi is quite expensive at list price, but good value at (Amazon) discount price. The embedded list of places of interest is a bit limited, but adequate. Entering addresses is very easy.
Outsanding product October 6, 2008 The Nuvi 270 lives up to its reviews. The screen size is fine - don't really need the larger screen of the 370. The road map is unbelievably complete -- in our remote little town it even knows about the little road stub past the library curbside book return!! Voice prompts are quite audible, and come at the right times -- once after a turn to advise when the next turn will come, once when about 400 yards away from the turn, and then right at the turn. Touch pad is pretty easy to use, but when entering the PIN, if you get it wrong it locks you out until you either return to your home place, or disconnect the external power and power unit off and then on (I had to find that out the hard way). All in all I'm very pleased with it.
A great GPS October 3, 2008 The product was as described and came with all the bells and whistles. It was easy to install and very easy to use. The instruction manual was a little short on instructions but the unit helped you get all the items available to your notice
Garmin Nuvi 270 October 2, 2008 I bought this model because the previous model did not come with the UK maps. The instructions sent to me by Garmin to load and update the new maps were complicated and unhelpful. This model had accurate instructions and was helpful.Sometimes the route it chose was longer but the landmarks etc were precise. I would recommend this to anyone who is traveling in the UK
Garmin nuvi 270 September 30, 2008 Great product right out of the box. The only extra piece of equipment needed is a micro usb cable so that one can register the product and receive updates via the computer/web site. Great price for a device that already comes loaded with European maps. Easy to mount, easy to hear over traffic or radio sound levels, quick to re-calculate if a turn is missed, and easy to enter addresses. The "points of interest" feature is invaluable for driving in new areas. LOVE IT!!
