Don't waste your money on this item, spend a little extra money and time finding the OEM HP ac adapter if you're looking for some quality. This will get hot to the touch and in my case, it lasted only 7 months before the plug would not charge any more.

This power adapter was a good deal at $38 and works well, usually. Occasionally I will plug the adapter into my Pavilion dv6000 and the battery meter will say, "plugged in, not charging." When it says that, I have to check an make sure all the parts of the adapter are completely connected. That will usually solve the problem, it's not a big deal, but it is annoying.
Not a good buy September 6, 2008
This plug wasn't very good. It's different than the picture shows. It works sometimes but the plug doesn't fit very well. You have to fiddle with it to get it to work at times. It comes out really easily too. Sometimes you can be working and it will come out and you could be at half batter when it should have been charging.

I broke my other power cord, so I thought I'd give this a try for my dv6000. So far I haven't had any trouble and it is compatible with my computer. So I would recommend, if you need a replacement.

Bought item 4 months ago and is already broken. Would definately NOT reccommend!! BEWARE!!
