Great product July 18, 2008 I bought this desk-mount arm based on the positive reviews I read from other people and I have to agree that this is a great product. I also agree with a few mentions of the arm being factory tightened too tight in some places so that it is almost impossible to loosen and adjust as freely as I would like. Getting my PC monitor off of my desk is bonus enough for me so the few limitations aren't enough to deter me from enjoying this item overall.
Good at this price point May 21, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought 2 of these - one for my little 17" secondary monitor and one for my wifes 24" primary montor.
On the 17", everything went very smoothly and setup was simple. The one issue you should keep in mind with this arm is that it's tight - very tight, so when you attach a lightweight monitor to it, you'll need more than average force to move it into place.
On the 24", things were more interesting. Technically, this arm isn't rated for a monitor this large, but as I've discovered with other arms, the size of the monitor is mostly irrelevant - it's the weight you have to keep in mind and the 24" monitor fell under the weight this arm is rated for, so that wasn't the problem. The issue we ran into with this montor arm is not really a "full range of motion" arm. Its range of up/down movement is much more limited than you find on other, more expnsive arms - at a guess, I'd say you only have 20 or 25 degrees of motion you can move it through. This meant that we couldn't actually mount the arm where we wanted to on her desk and had to find an alternative, which, after an hour of futzing around, we did and all was well.
So, while this is a fine arm for the money and definately better than any others I've seen for this price, you do get some limitations that come with it. Overall, it's perfect for my small 17" secondary monitor, but if I were buying for my wifes monitor again, I'd probably buy another Ergotron LX like I use for my 28" main montor because of the overall range of motion it gives.
Nice, solid unit May 5, 2008 After much research I decided on this unit because of its construction and price. I am very impressed with it - very well built w/hardware for all types of installation. It is now holding up my 19" Dell monitor.
Note: I purchased it for $69.99 (free s/h, no tax) -- Office Depot was selling the same unit for $125 +tax -- so shop around.
This is a great lcd mounting device! May 3, 2008 I have had no trouble whatsoever with this device. I am slowly loosing my eyesight so it is very handy to just sit back and extend the arm and display right up to my face and go to work. I am going to buy another one so as to use two displays at once. I work with images all day so I need several windows open at the same time. I will be able to view more items at the same time and hopefully save some time switching between windows.
You need this......................... April 3, 2008 ..............If you want to get your monitor off of your desktop. This mount works very well for me. Adjustment is easy and it frees up a lot of space on my desktop. I have read reviews of this product by people who complain that adjusting the position of the monitor is difficult. It is not. This is a very high quality piece that performs well. It is elegant at the same time. The metal is heavy and the construction is stout. Installation is very intuitive.
