Amazon.com Product Description
This Belkin SurgeMaster Maximum Series surge protector shields such equipment as computers, peripherals, home theater components, and AV devices from damage caused by electrical swells. The model boasts an impressive 2,655-joule energy rating (with a maximum spike amperage of 135,000 amps), along with nine outlets that supply complete three-line AC surge protection. As an add-on, the unit also safeguards your modem, phone, and DSL lines thanks to its solid-state phone input, in addition to protecting your cable modem and digital satellite system through its coaxial cable line and ceramic arrestor. Additional features include sliding safety covers on all nine outlets, a spoiler cord system that keeps power cords from crossing and cluttering, AC block space outlets that provide room for oversized block-style plugs, and illuminated LEDs that indicate when electric devices are ground and protected.

In addition, the SurgeMaster employs an EM and RF filter, which reduces up to 70 dB of background noise and static. The resulting signal ensures clean, crisp audio/video performance whether you're watching a movie or listening to your favorite songs. Users should have no problem finding a spot for the SurgeMaster thanks to its right-angle plug, which connects snugly against a wall and behind a couch or chair without causing problems. The surge protector is also outfitted with a 14-gauge heavy-duty power cord that measures a robust 8-feet long. As a final enticement, Belkin has included a lifetime $250,000 connected-equipment warranty.

1 out of 5 stars It should say "will not honor warranty for any type of use"   July 15, 2008

I have been a satisfied Belkin customer for years. After being plagued with several incidents of fried computer components, I bought three of these surge protectors in September 2007. I chose them solely because of the $250,000 connected equipment warranty, and because I've always liked Belkin products. Last month a surge in the cable/ethernet burned out two NIC cards, my router, and cable modem. My internet provider replaced the modem and after much research and hassle, I filled out the Belkin claim form, documented everything, and sent them the three surge protectors. What was the result? They denied my claim, said there was no evidence of a surge. When I protested, and asked if they thought I was lying about the fried equipment, I was told that it wasn't intended to be an attack on my character. I asked to be transferred to a supervisor, who promised to get back to me in a few days after looking into my claim further. The result? An unsigned letter in the mail, denying my claim. So save your money. These surge protectors don't work, and you will not see a dime of the warranty. The surge protectors either show no evidence of surges afterwards, or the technical staff can't find the evidence, or (most likely) Belkin is just in the business of denying claims. Now I just run around at the mere prediction or rain and unplug everything. And I will never, ever buy another Belkin product. May they go bankrupt.

4 out of 5 stars Good   June 25, 2008
this is a good surge protector at a good price, but the problem I have with the selle is, I emailed them & they said it was coming by reg mail,USPS, but it come by DHL, they could have sent me a tracking no, like I asked but they did not, so this seller custermer service is not very good at all!

1 out of 5 stars Warranty is unreliable and poor customer service   June 22, 2008

My Belkin went bad and the plastic began burning. I smelt the burning plastic before it burned down my house. I filed a claim and sent the Belkin surge protector back and never heard anything from them --not even a little postcard that my claim had been denied.

4 out of 5 stars Does its job   May 20, 2008
This is my first surge protector but I made sure that I purchased one with the right specifications such as joules. I have no problems and it does its jobs. It has indicator lights and many connections and plugs. This received overall good ratings so I purchased it and am satisfied.

5 out of 5 stars great investment   May 9, 2008
who knew this little investment would make such a difference? I learned the hard way. The average UPS has what, a few hundred joules protection against surges? no wonder our file server kept getting hit, in spite of being hooked up to a ups. this little strip here, for less than 35 bucks, offers what, 2500 or so joules protection? so I did an experiment. I put this strip into the so-called conditioned power outlet, then the UPS into this, then the server into the UPS. well, this server has not skipped a beat, while the other servers attached to just a ups have failed twice now. you do the math.
