The iQue M3 features Microsofts Windows Mobile 2003 Professional Edition software package, Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition, which supports portrait/landscape screen orientation for easy viewing of multimedia content. Incorporating Garmins proven, easy-to-use c-series automotive navigation software, the iQue M3 provides premium in-car navigation capability with automatic route calculation to any destination. The intuitive, point-screen interface requires little input from the user. Users can easily see where they are on an electronic map, and look up an address or point of interest and route to it. An integrated speaker gives voice-prompted, turn-by-turn directions to your destination.Users are also able to choose between a three-dimensional navigation view or the more traditional 2D overhead view. The 3D-navigation perspective lets drivers see an uncluttered view of whats down the road.A built-in basemap of North and South America shows major highways, thoroughfares, railways, lakes, rivers and borders. Garmin includes its MapSource City Select DVD as a standard accessory, so users can download detailed street-level map data, look up nearly six million points of interest (POIs), and navigate to addresses throughout the U.S. and Canada. World travelers can also add a European or Pacific Rim basemap from the installation CD and purchase detailed maps separately. The GPS antenna on the iQue M3 folds flush with the back of the unit. To navigate, simply raise the antenna to enable Garmins patented antenna-release switch that simultaneously powers up the device, initiates the satellite-acquisition sequence, and defaults to the QueMapTM interface. Once the antenna switch is triggered, the device prepares to navigate. The antenna can also be adjusted for optimal GPS signal reception.

 M3 for getting around. February 13, 2007
I have owned the Garmin M3 for about a year. The first thing I did was to update the software to version 2.5. As far as software goes I have no complaints however be aware that Garmin has limited a lot of nice features that I wish I had. For example don't pre-plan a trip and expect to download it to the M3 and if you want to stay clear of dirt roads good luck there is no filter for dirt roads on the M3.
Now, I think the hardware is a good value and maybe it could be used with another map program, but I wish I would have spent a little more and saved my frustrations for something else.

the m3 has been such an asset to me...I work in sales and have to travel quite often. This unit has helped me find even the most remote locations. Sometimes it does take a sec to acquire the satellites but 95% of the time less than a minute. I would highly recommend this unit for anyone that travels for a living!
Garmin iQue M3 Pocket PC January 10, 2007
Our Son gave us a Garmin iQue 3 this past summer before we drove to Alaska and it was a great help in finding our way when looking for attractions on our trip. So we bought one for our other Son for Christmas. And after telling my Sister about it she ordered one for her husband for Christmas from Amazon also.
