No photovoltaic, plastic base, lacks mounting hardware June 24, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Short review: Doesn't look bronze to me. Skip this one and spend the extra $ on the 180 degree version from Designers Edge, it's a much better unit.
Long review: First of all the product I received looks black in color. Any true "designer" would probably be ticked since designers are choosy when it comes to colors. I think Amazon made a mistake because there is no way this thing is "bronze" in color.
This 110 degree version has no photo sensor so you'll need a wall switch or something to toggle it off each day after the sun comes up and then back on again as the sun sets. That reason alone is enough to get the 180 degree version which comes with a photovoltaic cell to automatically turn the thing off when the sun comes up.
The base of this model is PLASTIC and there is NO ground wire on this model. The lack of ground wire just doesn't seem safe but the model is UL listed and I'm not an electrician so what do I know.
The mounting holes are oddly/incorrectly placed. I had to rotate the unit in order to mount it on my house. Due to that rotation one of the lights obstructs the view of the motion sensor, so that limits the range of the motion sensor which is not good.
Lastly they should have included some mounting hardware of some sort, like maybe a round ring that mounts to the receptacle box and then the light could mount to the ring.
In conclusion, the 180 degree model is a much better product. I ordered both the 110 degree and the 180 degree in bronze. They both look black to me, and the 180 degree is a far superior model.
