Amazon.com Product Description
Play your favorite MP3s, CDs, or iPod tunes through any vehicle FM radio while simultaneously powering the device with this Scosche combo FM transmitter/charger. The FM transmitter offers four selectable channels: 88.1, 88.3, 88.5, and 88.7 MHz. To use the device, simply find an empty frequency on your FM dial-- meaning a frequency that gets no reception--that corresponds to one of the four channels, then tune the transmitter to the same channel. The music will then play through the selected station, negating the need for a cassette deck adapter, auxiliary input, or other wired music transfer device. The charger, meanwhile, plugs into your cigarette lighter adapter to keep your music player fully juiced as you drive, so you won't run out of music within the first few hours of your road trip.

Compatible with iPods, MP3 players, PDAs, cassette players, portable CD players, laptops, and any other device with a 3.5 mm headphone jack, the FM transmitter/charger offers an operating range of up to 30 feet (10 feet or less will minimize interference and provide the strongest signal) and is backed by a 90-day warranty.

1 out of 5 stars Did not work for me   August 19, 2008
I have tried this product in 3 different vehicles and with an mp3 player as well as an ipod with no luck. In some areas, it will work temporarily and then cut out to static and I have to change to another station. When I finally get one of the 4 stations to work it will go out again and i have to start over. However, it does seem to work a little better in larger cities (I live in a rural area). But I would not recommend it for long trips as you are constantly having to change the frequency.

3 out of 5 stars works well on highway   February 18, 2008
I am from Missoula, MT and have found that driving on the highway while using the transmitter yields good results, not quite as good as cd quality but very close. I wouldn't suggest this for a city person though because of all the electrical interference, which makes the sound very fuzzy and distorted. Great for the highway though.

The unit works as advertised. As some other reviewers have pointed out, there is some background noise, but this unit is no worse than the Belkin unit I had before it. It does turn on instantly when it is plugged into the power socket in my car, which is not that case with the Belkin.

This is not a hunk of junk but neither does it go very far it barely covers my trailer and wont go through the alluminium siding at all so if 88.5 and 88.1 are coming in strong in your area you will have no luck with 88.3 (so thats 3 channels you can't use) and 88.7 might get feedover from 88.5 anyway it will work in a car great but if its for your trailer forget it if 88.5 and 88.1 are in use locally.

4 out of 5 stars Scosche FM transmitter - best so far.   June 28, 2006

This device is simple, elegant and just works. It's better than several others I've tried. Since the main unit plugs directly into 12 volt power in the car, there are no batteries to worry about. Even though it has only 4 FM frequencies, even in a busy metropolitan area (Denver) I can usually find a frequency on which it will work. The sound quality is good, not great. Having an auxiliary input jack on my car stereo would be the best solution, but since the car manufacturers are hopelessly behind the times, the is the next best thing.
