5 out of 5 stars Great headphone   November 3, 2008
I've owned this pair for a few months now. Great sound quality. I'm a bass junkie and this little pair packs a surprising punch. I've used them on the train and jogging. The headphones come with a neat carry case.

The best part-- I forgot them in my pocket and they survived a 30 minute wash cycle in my washing machine and are still (miraculously) working fine. (Though I would not recommend you try this stunt).

5 out of 5 stars glad I bought them, nice design   November 1, 2008
these fit a little nicer than the 71s. and sound great. I preferred the 'behind the neck' cord over the Y shaped one, but not a problem. I rip all my music to 320 bitrate so I'm lovin these. there's plenty of bass, but not overpowering, as others have said. I have a question, though, maybe someone can answer. these sound better with my 80 gb ipod that has a hard drive than they do with my 3rd gen nano that is flash. Should this be so?

**one other thing: I've had other in the ear buds and these have the LEAST noise transfer from shirts, jackets, whatever. the sennheiser cx300s are unbearable to wear if you move.

4 out of 5 stars Good but I preferred the Sony MDR-EX71   October 31, 2008
I have owned a pair of MDR-EX71's for several years and they have had a great deal of use but the other day one of the earpieces finally gave out. I was pleased to see that Sony had introduced an updated model, the EX75's.

I read the reviews and was a little disappointed to hear that Sony had dropped the asymmetrical headphone lead which is something I liked very much with the 71's. However I was reassured by the last review on Amazon that said you can adjust them to be asymmetrical, strictly speaking this is true but the end result leaves an unnecessary loop of wire dangling which is not ideal.

The thing that sold me on these though was the reviews that spoke about the great sound quality (especially the review saying they sounded better than the 71's). The 75's certainly do sound different, they have a much higher sensitivity than the 71's meaning they sound louder and produce more treble and about the same level of bass. However after listening for an hour I've found the extra treble overwhelms the bass a little and I preferred the bass/treble balance on my old 71's (these are almost too harsh for long duration listening).

If these last as long as the 71's did then they'll still be a great buy but I have given them only four stars for the reasons mentioned above. My advice would be to buy a pair of 71's while you still can!

5 out of 5 stars very comfortable   October 24, 2008
I like these earbuds very much, they are much more comfortable than the ones that came with my itouch!

4 out of 5 stars Worth Upgrading   September 28, 2008

I decided to replace the mediocre ear buds that came with my 3G Nano. At first, I was about to leap into the $100 plus range until I came across the Sony MDR-EX75. I was able to pick them up at my local FYE music store for $40. You place these into your ear canal and the middle size tips work great for me. Immediately, 25% of the background noise is eliminated. You will be able to listen to your music without such high volume being needed as well. The music is crisp to my ears and the bass is plentiful. Actually, on some of my albums especially dance/techno, I have to turn my iPod EQ to flat or off because the bass was too much for my liking. If you have high quality mp3s, you will be able to hear other sounds and instruments that you might not have heard before with the Apple ear buds. These headphones do not hurt my ears and find them very comfy. I use them at least 25 hours a week with my iPod and laptop.

The negatives and the reason I did not give these 5 stars is that the cord comes in 2 sections of about 2 feet each. It is great for those that use armbands cause you will not need the extra cord. However, if you are on the shorter side like me and need that extra 2 feet cause you use a case with a clip for the waist, it might be on the long side. The cord attachment is super light but at the same time adds noticeable weight to the overall cord. The cord is sensitive as well, meaning if it rubs against your shirt or anything, you will be able to hear it through the headphones. It is annoying but I eventually got use to it.

For the price of $50, well worth the upgrade before launching into the higher price range of over $100. They do come in white if you prefer that color.
