Amazon.com Product Description Teac's powerful W-860R is ideal for recording musicians and anyone seeking full-featured cassette performance. The unit offers two autoreverse-equipped cassette transports, a microphone input (.25-inch) with level control, variable pitch control (+/-10 percent, deck 1), and even mic/line mixing recording so you can add another voice or instrument in real time to the pieces you're copying from deck 1 to deck 2. The deck's dual-well design provides tremendous versatility for simple copying as well as bi-directional relay-record and -playback functions. With the W-860R, unattended play or recording can extend for six hours using C-90 tapes. Need to make multiple copies of your demo CD? Engage parallel recording to make tapes on both decks simultaneously. Two-speed dubbing lets you make quick copies or dub at the standard, originally recorded speed. A choice of Dolby B or C noise reduction provides recordings with high signal-to-noise ratios and ensures compatibility with most existing recorded cassettes. Deck 2 offers Dolby HX PRO for extended high-frequency response. During playback, music search will fast forward or rewind until the deck senses a break in the recorded sound, providing an easy way to scan a tape for a desired track. And, using CPS (Computomatic Program Search), your track programming can extend across decks 1 and 2. The deck uses an easy-to-read multifunction fluorescent display and offers individual left/right peak program level meters. Each transport automatically senses the tape type being used (chrome, metal, or normal) and adjusts bias and equalization for that particular tape. A four-digit tape counter provides an accurate way to locate a tape segment, and a front-panel headphone jack permits private listening so you can enjoy a cassette without disturbing others. An optional remote control (model RC-544) lets you control the deck from your listening position, and an optional EIA rack mount kit (model RM-860) houses your deck safely and efficiently--perfect for project studio use. What's in the Box Cassette deck, audio cables, a user's manual, warranty information.

Just what I needed February 10, 2008 I tape delay radio talk shows that are broadcast during the day while I'm working - then listen to the tapes on my drive to work the next day. This deck does the trick. It has the capability to interface with an appliance timer and can record on both decks (and both sides) sequentially. I also recorded some music and thought that the quality was quite acceptable - reproduction was very close to original for all practical purposes. I don't know why TEAC dropped Dobly "C" on their tape decks. But I don't really miss it.
you made my husband very happy. thank you December 1, 2007 It is hard finding good dual cassette decks, and harder to find one with pitch control. This is a wonderful product and a very affordable price. My husband was thrilled with his surprise birthday gift!!! Thank you so much.
meets my needs May 14, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
The W-360R cassette recorder does everything that I want from a recorder. I am interested in recording long musical pieces from my FM radio amplifier, and with the W860R I can record up to 180 minutes using both tapes which meet my needs. Very few operas, oratorios etc exceed this time limit, and the few that do can be coped with by replacing tape I with a new tape.
Adequate but I've bought better March 13, 2006 12 out of 12 found this review helpful
I bought one a little while ago (2/06). It does the job but seems chintzy, compared to the Sony I had before. The right hand well is noisy which is a drag since the deck is right next to me as I listen/record. I do like that it has a pitch control (on deck 1 only) but wish it had a time counter rather than an index counter. It also has rotating heads which is just plain bad engineering. There is no need for that. I don't expect this unit to last long with rotating heads but there are so few dual well decks that record on both wells, this will have to do for now. It is also noisy as it reverses direction (heads rotating) and as it plays/records.
TEAC W-860R Cassette Deck April 5, 2004 22 out of 24 found this review helpful
Good Audio quality, many options for reasonable price. However the transport mechanism is too noisy and cassette comparment covers/eject nobs substandard (poor). Overall a good Deck.Challa S. Dubai
