Amazon.com Product Description
Compact and affordable, the JVC RC-EZ35 boombox is a great fit for tailgaters, picnics, parties, and other occasions when a full-size stereo just won't do. The device is outfitted with a stylish housing that holds a CD player, cassette deck, AM/FM radio, and a pair of full-range speakers. The chassis looks good and holds up durably to on-the-go use, but also fits effortlessly in a bedroom or office setting. Users will groove to the unit's solid range of compatible listening formats, which includes audiocassettes, CDs, CD-R/RW discs, and MP3s (on CD-R/RW). And should listeners want to enjoy a DJ's playlist or NPR program, they can turn to the digital AM/FM tuner, which includes 20 FM and 10 AM presets for quick and easy station access.

The boombox also offers a number of essential CD functions, including 40-track programming, random and repeat play, intro scan, and CD synchro-start recording, which coordinates the first few seconds of CD playback with the cassette deck's record button. The system's solid audio performance stems not just from its 3.56-inch speakers, but also its 1-bit digital-to-analog converter, which ensures a crisp, clean signal. Other features include JVC's Hyper-Bass sound system for improved low-frequency performance, five preset equalizer patterns to ensure a diverse sound, a two-line backlit LCD display, ID3 tagging (shows MP3 title and artist information on the display), a headphone jack for private listening, and a full-function remote control that operates the unit from a distance.

Appropriately for a portable player, the boombox runs on either batteries or AC power and offers a fold-down carrying handle for easy transport. The device also carries a one-year warranty on parts and a 90-day warranty on labor.

2 out of 5 stars Was disappointed   July 31, 2008
At first I thought that this was a great little boombox. I really liked the MP3 playback and mp3 song name display. Then after about 2 days of playing CDs and/or MP3s, they would no longer play. I'd put in a CD and the display would read "no disc" even though I tried many different discs. I was very disappointed with the product. Good thing Amazon is so great with accepting returns!

4 out of 5 stars Good for price   June 30, 2008

I gave this as a gift less than a month ago. It's said to be working fine. Speakers are not as powerful as more expensive models, but it seems to be a good product for the price. Very easy to operate.

4 out of 5 stars best MP3 boom box under 100 dollars   May 23, 2008

I had this unit for almost a year now and love it and is simply the Best unit if you want one that plays MP3 cds and simply blows away the completion I also like the remote and power cord fits inside the unit battery compartment (with out batteries of course) the sound is not to loud but acceptable and sound quality is good.

there does seem by this page there is some quality control issues with this unit but again it sold very well and often it true that for every one bad review there a thousand good reviews that never get written but that why you should buy it from a reputable company such as Amazon that has very good customer service and return policy

1 out of 5 stars Boom box goes bust   May 9, 2008

I teach adult school and play music CDs in class every day, so when my 5-year-old Sony boom box stopped working, I went online looking for a replacement that would have decent tone and would be reliable. I'd owned a great JVC radio and casette player years ago, so I decided on the JVC RC-EZ35 mostly because it was the same brand. Bad idea. It worked well at first, but within a week, after an hour or so of play, I'd put in a CD and the display would read "no disc." I later learned from a colleague that the small, inexpensive CD players, though not long on sound, may be better mechanically. Now I'm using a cheap Chinese knockoff provided by my school district, and have my students complained about the sound quality? Of course not!
