Amazon.com Product Description Designed to meet JBL's stringent audio standards, the Venue Series SUB10 subwoofer uses premium technology to let your home-theater system deliver those pulsing lower frequencies with maximum sound quality. With a frequency response of 27 Hz and a variable low-pass frequency of 50 to 150 Hz all backed up by a powerful amplifier and assisted by a FreeFlow flared port, the SUB10 gives you low notes loud, clear, and distortion-free. The amplifier power is 150 watts, with a peak dynamic power of 250 watts. The 10-inch woofer is constructed from JBL's proven PolyPlas material and housed in a 17.75 x 12.25 x 15.75 inch case, making it compact enough to position easily in your home theater. The SUB10 comes with LFE- and line-level inputs to give you connection flexibility, and crossover-frequency controls and a phase switch let you adjust the SUB10's output to suit your audio needs.
Product Description The Venue Series SUB10 performs like a pro, with technology developed by JBL's Professional division. Equipped with JBL's tried-and-true PolyPlas woofer, this subwoofer delivers the low-frequency goods. Special effects in your favorite movies, assisted by the FreeFlow flared port, are loud and clear, without unwanted distortion or boominess. A powerful amplifier backs up the 10-inch woofer with high-output. LFE- and line-level inputs provide maximum connection flexibility. Convenient level and crossover-frequency controls and a phase switch let you tailor the SUB10's performance to your room's acoustics or your taste. The Peak Dynamic Power is measured by recording the highest center-to-peak voltage measured across the output of a resistive load equal to minimum impedance of the transducer, using a 50Hz sine wave burst, 3 cycles on, 17 cycles off. The SUB10 powered subwoofer is just the ticket to bring your home theater system to life. Why pay more? August 27, 2008 For the money, there is no better value than this. Sub base is a presence, and this product delivers. Why in the world would anyone pay more for the same? I do indeed have another sub in a different room at three times the price. Both are driven by quality equipment. Go hear it at Best Buy, and buy it here.
Excellent August 9, 2008 This sub-woofer sounds great, has a nice tight response. Doesn't rattle at all. And I didn't pay close to this price! Bought it before x-mas at about $160, give or take. I didn't know the price had gone up so much.
Adds the WOW factor to your audio! July 26, 2008 Subwoofers not only add pounding low end to your movies and audio, they accomplish other things. For example, they take the low bass load off your regular speakers and make the treble sound better. In the 70s, JBL speakers were used as studio monitors in many recording studios and are used for many pro uses, like PAs, today. I've always liked the crisp, clean sound of JBLs so, after reading some reviews, decided on the Venue Sub10 to compliment my JBL 2600 bookshelf speakers. The price was right ($150) and it wasn't too honking for my apartment.
The Sub10 has the clean, classy look of JBL audio products, clear instructions and was easy to install: just plug it into the subwoofer output on my NAD surround sound receiver (there are ways to connect the sub to any system) and plug in the 'wall wart.' You don't even need to remember to turn it off since it has an auto on/off feature. Controls include level, crossover and phase. By adjusting them you can dial in the sound to your tastes and eardrums. Once you have a sub you can never go back to not having one!
Good value for great clarity May 30, 2008 I have nothing but good things to say about this subwoofer. I've paired it with a couple of 6" JBL Arena bookshelf speakers, and it makes the listening experience much more complete. Just a few observations:
-I had considered getting the 500 watt JBL subwoofer, but based on my experiences listening to the two in stores, the one I purchased keeps up just fine while taking up noticeably less space. -Subwoofers at big box stores in this price range just can't compete with the clarity of the sound on this item. Those subwoofers have a tendency to be quite boomy and rattle around a lot - perhaps ok for home theater, but in my opinion, not the best-suited for music. The subwoofer I purchased has been great for all purposes. -The item came spotless - in great condition, and appearing to be of very quality construction. -I should caveat my review with the fact I use the subwoofer for a smaller space, so my needs may differ from those of others.
JBL SUB-10 May 8, 2008 Very good sub for the price.Deep sound and clear.Just one problem, the first speaker came without the cover for front of speaker. But Amazon took care of problem real fast and sent another sub.Not really there fault, came from factory like that.Overall very happy with speaker.
