Piece of Junk August 4, 2008 I bought this product just 18 months ago, and it has become completely inoperable on two separate occasions. First, there was an irremediable paper jam for which I had to send the product back to Canon. Then they sent me a replacement printer that broke down for no apparent reason - just decided to freeze one day. Also beware that this product has a strict one-year warranty that does not extend to replacement parts Canon sends. So despite the fact that their second product fell apart less than six months after receiving it, it is no longer covered by warranty.
Canon MF5770, A Roll of The Dice! August 4, 2008 I own an MF5730 version of this printer and couldn't expect more from a printer at this price. That's why I ordered the MF5770 from Amazon. The shipping was quick and the box arrived in good condition. Unfortunately, after investing an hour of time putting it together and loading software, the first print came out "crooked." I tried making a copy and it also came out crooked. I read the manual to troubleshoot with no success. Apparently crooked prints, copies and scans are not part of the adjustable portion of the machine. Oddly enough, the problem might be the toner cartridge and not the printer. On the bright side, what a great opportunity this printer gave to Amazon customer service to replace it. I emailed Amazon on a Sunday afternoon and they emailed a return shipping label (prepaid) for me to return it. By Tuesday, a new unit arrived at my door. Unfortunately, the second unit also printed crooked but not as bad. I reluctantly kept the unit because I was too disgusted to send the second unit back. I mean repacking the box and traveling to UPS for a second time really stinks. Canon customer service is an absolute joke. They read from a script and ask you to send them a crooked copy so they can see what crooked looks like. Give me a break. The image shifts almost 3/8 of an inch to the right from the top of the page to the bottom. Even if they concluded that I had the intelligence to diagnose crooked, they were going to have me transport the unit (at my expense) to the nearest service center to drop it off for repair. Thumbs up to Amazon, Thumbs down to Canon. (all they care about is making a buck on every sale.)
MF5770 June 4, 2008 Things I wish were better with the MF5770: 1.) A seperate tray for Letter and Legal Paper. 2.) The error setting and requirement to change paper if a Legal document is sent to the printer when it is configured for Letter leaving the printer useless until you reconfigure it and change paper. A real pain.
The rest of the functions of the MF5770 seem to function as advertized.
Great All in One Printer at a GREAT price May 29, 2008 Great Laser printer. Fax works well with good features. Copier with document feeder works very well. Scanner works well, but must use USB cable for scanner - not network capable. All other features are network ready. I am very pleased with my purchase.
Great printer! April 9, 2008 We started using this printer about a month ago and have not had a single bit of trouble with it. There have been no papers spewing out on the floor, no paper jams, and no error beeps that can't be turned off. It prints clearly, quickly, and quietly. I would recommend this printer to anyone!
