 After using Konica-Minolta Laser Printers August 8, 2008
My first Konica-Minolta was purchased in 2003. It replaced a Xerox Mono-Printer which was excellent and pushed out ream upon ream of text documents for 5 years. Xerox stopped producing this printer or any like it and jumped into color lasers which I found very disappointing, as well as their service.
Back to the Minolta Magicolor printers; They are the best for crisp black text (we publish paper back books). Their service support is probably one of the best in the industry. I am retiring, instead of repairing a QMS Magicolor 2300dl, which has proven it's worth to my company. Purchasing is much cheaper and quicker than repairing these machines. I am hoping that this Magicolor 2500w is as good as my previous Mgicolor 2300dl. The consumables are pricey, but the end product is excellent. Have had bad luck trying to use knock off consumables.

The paper pickup system is an abomination. Most of the time it won't pick up. It constantly jams. You can't use labels in it because if they come off the paper, there is no way to get to them and remove them, and your machine is ruined. Konica replaced my first one for free because of this problem. There is hardly any ink in the starter cartridges and replacements are expensive. Ink powder sometimes flakes on to the paper and for the rare time it picks up the paper the paper is ruined. Buy an HP.

Finally, a color laser printer under $200.00!! It is fast....Up to 20 ppm (pages per minute) in black & white and up to 5 ppm in color and the print quality is excellent! I use it for business cards and pretty much all of my printing needs.
Toner is a little pricy at $85.00 for black and $69.00 per color, but they last a very long time. I suspect that with every day home use they should last at least a year. Also keep in mind that these prices are for name brand replacements. Off brand would be significantly less.
