Terrible software. Do not buy unless ready to spend hours trying to figure out why their software that comes with the printer will not even install on XP or Vista. Installtion takes long time and than eventually errors out. Tried updated software from their website but same problems. Finally I was able to install just the drivers somehow and the printer works OK. The scanner software still does not work on PC, throws exception error.
Another problem is compatibility with the print server, it's not compatible with my NetGear Print server, which I did not know about and found out later. Lesson - Stick with mainstream printer brands and model#.

Cheap ink, if you want to mostly print documents with ink and not toner, you'd be crazy to go anywhere else but with the Kodak brand right now. This printer may or may not be a bit more up front but they don't charge $27 to get about 500 prints from a cartridge either, just $10. It's a sponge type cartridge, for you refillers out there, just resoak the sponge. As for the printer itself, no problems.

Purchased 6 months ago, and prints are excellent. What's also really great is the printing cartridges are half the price of other cartridges, and with Kodak color quality. I couldn't be happier with this unit, and it's a snap to change cartridges.

We love this printer! Though I can handle complicated computer equipment since I do it for a living, why go through the pain? This printer is REALLY easy to use, has finally made ink pricing fair in this rip-you-off industry, and the photos we've printed have turned out great (as long as you print on Kodak paper...which is not priced to rip you off). Bravo, Kodak.
What good is cheap ink if the printer doesn't work??????? September 20, 2008
I purchased this printer about 3 days after it came on the market here. I was thrilled with it - for about 8 months. Then, just like all the others, my printhead failed. It took alot of ink and time to figure out the problem. I contacted kodak support via email and within 3-4 days, I had a new printhead and was printing like new again. I was so pleased at the response - I wrote a glowing thank you email! Now, 6 months later, I'm having the same problem with the exact opposite response. I reported the problem 2 weeks ago. I was promised another new printhead but it hasn't come yet. I've sent several emails requesting updates and I get no response! I'm in the busiest time of my year and I'm completely unable to print. If I had the money, I'd go out and buy a new (non-Kodak) printer but that's just not feasible right now. So, here I sit and wait. When it works, it's great! Beautiful prints! Great value on ink! But what good does it do anyone when it won't work! I don't care how cheap the ink is?
