Good for the Money August 28, 2008 This machine does a great job for the money. It is a low-end all in one copy/fax/printer/scanner. If you plan on printing things in color, I'd pay more for a better printer. If you simple print in B&W, send a fax, or scan something then it would be hard to match this on a price-value bases.
great printer August 27, 2008 excellent printer! i owned a 3 year old version of this printer and upgraded to this one when it went on sale for $69. INCREDIBLE speed, brilliant color, easy to set-up.
Fairly good machine... August 25, 2008 I've had this printer for about 6 months and it works fairly good. It prints, it scans, it copies, and it can also fax. I haven't had any problems with it yet and the ink is fairly inexpensive. the only thing I really didnt like is the fact that pictures dont print all that nice. But for the price it works very well. If your into printing a lot of pictures I really don't recommend this printer for you but if you need it for printing documents, this machine pulls its weigh.
Nice printer .... but ... BUT August 17, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I'm keeping this review short because there's only one thing that really, really bothers me which others should know about. We all know ink is expensive for printers. It's one of the major factors one should consider when buying a printer.
I am extremely annoyed with this printer because often times, the cartridges are half-full still and the printer insists the cartridge needs to be changed. When I need to reseat the cartridges, often times, the printer will say there is no cartridge there. I am no printer novice. I've had ink jet printers since they were first invented. My first inkjet lasted 10 years with no problems until the problem which ended it's working life. I definitely know how to clean printers and do any necessary maintenance to increase longevity.
Overall, I cannot rate the product very high because of this. You'd think manufactures would be able to improve all aspects of products over time instead of making them more annoying.
Disappointed August 10, 2008 4 out of 7 found this review helpful
I owned another brand for many years. I was perfectly satisfied, but it did not have all of the features that I needed. I bought the MFC465 on the strong recommendation of the sales rep in the office supply store. I immedidately noticed that it seemed more cheaply made than my original brand.
The draft quality looks like draft quality print. My old printer had such good draft quality that I defaulted to that option for all of my professional papers. I saved a lot of ink this way. On this printer, I have to print normal quality just to read my banking statements. It seemd to use ink quickly.
I was shocked to learn that I had to buy four different ink cartridges. The worst feature on this printer is that when one color goes out, the printer will not work until that one color is replaced. Most of my documents are in black and white. I played with the color prints while my grandchildren were visiting. It quickly ran out of yellow ink and would not print at all. Since I rarely use the color print, I was furious that my documents would not print. I had to stop what I was doing to run out and buy a yellow cartridge so that my black and white documents would print. That makes no sense to me.
I told the store manager how displeased I was with this printer. He inferred that he had a lot of complaints on this particular printer. In fact, he was shocked that the sales rep recommended this brand over the others. Even though I have used this printer for four months, he agreed to exchange it for an upgraded version of my old brand.
