1 out of 5 stars Scanner NO   October 3, 2008
This is the slowest, clumsiest peace of junk I have ever bought. Beware of all the so-called ease of use claims. I expected much more for the money. How do I get my money back on this thing?

4 out of 5 stars It works....but   September 21, 2008
I had a problem when I installed the program, but it works.
If you installed another language already on your computer, you need to check the language version of the non-unicode program.
It it is other language, you'd better make it English not to have any error while installing the scanner program.
Once you had a problem with installation, it never works even after re-installation. Otherwise, you may use a default scanner program of Windows XP.
I had to install it on another computer.

1 out of 5 stars Stopped working on the third day   September 9, 2008
I used this scanner on a Mac G5 with Leopard. It all started well and the scanner actually produced pretty good results. But then, after three days of moderate use, it died. The scanner did turn on, but the cover buttons were not working and the system didn't recognize it. Tried different cables, rebooting, cleaning preferences, etc. Nothing. Called support and they said it was a hardware malfunction. Wouldn't recommend it.

4 out of 5 stars SCANJET REVIEW   August 30, 2008
Very happy with product. Needed a new scanner as my old one would not work with new computer running 64 bit vista. Easy to hook up & learn how to use. Price was right & as always shipping was fast at Amazon. If you are looking for a stand alone scanner at a good price I would suggest you give this model a look!

1 out of 5 stars Dead on arrival   August 13, 2008
Powered up, but carriage would not move. Spent hours with HP tech support, they tried to blame my USB drivers, which was nonsense. I tried it on several different computers with VIA and Intel USB chipset drivers. Got the same results, but HP was still trying to pass the buck. Finally decided it was a hardware problem and got Amazon to refund me. Amazon then charged me a 25 dollar restocking fee, which I thought was rather dishonest since they shipped me a broken piece of merchandise to begin with. Now I'll try Canon
