Can I give it negative stars?! September 8, 2008 This phone is total junk. Although the concept is splendid, its execution is abysmal. I cannot imagine a more pathetic product reaching the market. This phone system flat out does not work. You've seen the reviews that say it drops calls? No kidding. It drops land line, cell phone, incoming, outgoing... it even dropped the call when I called Panasonic to complain. They gave me a fix that seemed to work, and I really, really wanted it to work. And two weeks later, it failed again. Repeatedly. Repeatedly. On every single call. I could not recommend this product to anyone except perhaps my mother-in-law.
Drops calls! Unreliable September 6, 2008 It's a shame that such a nice thing doesn't work reliably. I have had this phone for 2 months and have never been so frustrated with a phone in my whole life. It drops calls randomly, sometimes many in 5 minutes, sometimes none for 4 days. For such a nice piece of hardware -feels like a quality phone, sexy base, great features especially the Bluetooth integration, it is unreliable at best. Maybe it is a DECT 6.0 problem that the technology doesn't mix well in my house? I have the same problems with the Panasonic KX-TG9361 as well. I didn't have good luck with the GE Cell Fusion 28128EE2 phones either, but problems were different, people that would call me wouldn't always hear me although I could hear them. Never dropped calls though, that is very frustrating. I will never buy another Panasonic phone again.
The Product I've been Waiting For September 2, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
When a coworker first introduced me to this product, I was very excited. I'm been looking for a way to drop my landline without losing the benefits of a household phone.
He warned me that while the product works fine for him, the reviews on Amazon have been scathing. I took my chances and bought it anyways and I've been mostly pleased.
I've not experienced any dropped calls and the system works as advertised. When I get home from work, I drop my cell phone on a counter in the kitchen and when I get calls, it rings the whole house. The unique ring tones (to distinguish between my wife and my own cell phones) and caller ID are great. Perhaps the greatest benefit of that is that I no longer make the mistake of answering the phone when my mother-in-law calls.
Two minor complaints:
1.) User interface is a bit clunky. Using the phones to dial a number is several steps.....dial the number, click 'cell', click which cell. I'm glad that it gives me the option of which phone I'm using, but it just seems like they could have done this in a better way.
2.) Text Messages. I have not heard anyone else complain about this in the reviews, but whenever I received a text message, it rings the Panasonic household phone. Then when you answer the phone, no one is obviously there because it was a text message, and it seems like it was a dropped phone call. I wish the Panasonic phone was smart enough to tell the difference between a text message and a real phone call. This could be the reason a lot of reviewers are complaining about "missed calls". They might just be getting text messages that they are thinking are missed calls.
another one for the "really wanting this to work but doesn't" team... September 2, 2008 At first the phone worked very well and I was very pleased but...just returned mine today to Best Buy at the 30 day mark as my calls have been dropping as many report. For the most part, my dropped calls were while talking on the main level (base unit is upstairs next to computer). I would call the person back and by the third drop call (30 feet away), I would walk to the base of the stairs hoping for a better connection...another drop. Today I even walked upstairs and sat within 10 feet of the base...another drop. I do not have the patience for this kind of unreliability. Looking at the Vtech phone and maybe the Dect 6.0 Fusion. I need the bluetooth support as my iphone/ATT gets limited service in the house.
Great product August 27, 2008 Works as advertised ........... only complaint is that you have to answer phone calls on the handsets and not your cell phone .......... at least that is the way it is with our cell phones when they are linked up using Bluetooth ............. other than that - perfect
