Product Description Extend your iPod's playback time with this Back-up Battery Pack! / Clip for secure attachment to your iPod / LED indicator displays remaining battery life
Amazon.com Product Description Ideal for outdoor activities, long road or backpacking trips, and any other extended period when a power source might be several hours (or days) away, this backup iPod battery pack keeps your music flowing throughout the afternoon and night. The pack connects to your iPod's 30-pin dock connector, with a built-in clip keeping it securely attached to your belt. Once attached, the backup battery unit delivers an extra 15 to 20 hours of playing time, far more than the iPod's integrated rechargeable battery. And should the backup battery start to run down--as revealed by the LED indicator--simply insert another four AA batteries (not included) and you're back to full strength. The backup battery is compatible with the iPod 3G, iPod 4G, iPod photo, iPod video, iPod nano, and iPod mini and carries a 90-day warranty against defects. What's in the Box Backup iPod battery, belt clip, user's manual.

Cheap - and worth it! August 14, 2008 I bought this with one thing in mind - powering my iPod Touch on Transatlantic flights. When you watch videos, it really sucks the juice out of the internal battery on the iPod and you will be lucky to watch 2 whole movies on one charge. With this battery pack, I was able to watch 2 movies plus listen to several hours of music. The only caveat I can add is that the instructions say that it will power the unit, but not charge the internal battery. When I plugged it into my iPod with a nearly exhausted battery, it did indeed charge the internal battery pack. This is not a big deal because it did what it promised which is a fairly inexpensive way to extend my time.
Works with 16GB iPod Touch! August 2, 2008 This works well with my 16GB iPod Touch. It does NOT charge the iPod (which is actually why I bought it - I previously used a To Go Portable Power IPod Energizer battery pack/charger with my 80GC iPod Classic and it made the iPod do strange things. I wanted a battery pack that simply ran my Touch, but didn't try to charge it), but runs it just fine.
This is essential for long trips or anytime you won't have access to a computer or wall outlet to charge the iPod. Yes, it is bulky and a bit awkward, and I don't see why they bother including a belt clip because I can't imagine anyone carrying this along with their iPod on their belt, but for my purposes (sitting on an airplane) it is totally worth the size and weight. It is set up to accept the (thicker) iPod Classic, so the Touch sits very loosely in the cradle.
As another reviewer mentioned, the battery level indication lights are not accurate. I started out with 4 fully charged Sanyo Eneloop AA batteries, and I immediately tested the indicator lights, of which only 3 green lights appeared. It's also worth noting that the green lights are difficult to see, they are sort of recessed behind the blue power light. Not a big deal to me, as I will always carry 2 sets of AA batteries anyway.
I haven't used it long enough to see how long it allows the iPod Touch to run for, but I will post an update once I do.
Great Product July 30, 2008 Works as described!!! I have an Ipod Touch and it works great!! It does not charge it though, the battery in the touch just doesn't drain as you use it.
The lights that say how much power it has can vary and is not always accurate. Unless its on and plugged in it will give faulty readings on its true power.
Overall it was worth the money spent!!! Will buy from again! it came in 2 days with standard shipping! Great people to deal with!!!!
Does not charge, only runs iPod July 28, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this to use to charge my video iPod while at a cabin with no electricity. Turns out, it will run an iPod while you listen to it, but does not just charge an iPod. This is problematic when using an iTrip to run the sound through a radio, since they both plug into the same slot. I did get it to slowly charge a friends Nano though...
No good with iPhone 3G!!! :( July 14, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I get an incompatible message when I plug it into my iPhone 3G. It worked exceptional with my iPod touch though, thus the 2 stars.
