The Philips DVP620VR also lets you record off-air in hi-fi stereo sound and watch your camcorder or hook up your gaming console through its convenient front-panel audio/video inputs. Progressive scanning, referred to as 480p for the number of horizontal lines that compose the video image, creates a picture using twice the scan lines of a conventional DVD picture, giving you higher resolution and sharper images while eliminating nearly all motion artifacts.
The VCR's 4-head design ensures smooth slow-motion play (forward and reverse) and clear still-frame images, 19-micron heads deliver the clearest possible picture when recording or viewing in EP (extended-play) mode, and with hi-fi sound the unit records and plays back stereo audio tracks. Other features include 1-touch recording, timer recording, auto head cleaning, and auto repeat playback (great for trade shows and presentations). You can even copy from DVD to VHS tape, providing the DVD is not Macrovision copy-protected -- a great idea for sharing your disc-based home videos with friends and family who don't yet have DVD players.
Video connections include front- and rear-panel composite-video inputs and rear-panel RF coaxial video in and out jacks -- perfect for either spontaneous hookups (like a camcorder or second VCR) or permanent connections (as with a cable box or DVR).
