Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Simplify the integration of a Bose Lifestyle system with other video sources, including those with HDMI. Connect just a single wire from the VS-2 video enhancer to the back of your TV, and receive the correct audio and video with the press of a button. Eliminate the confusion of managing TV inputs. The VS-2 video enhancer houses your video inputs and requires just one connection to the back of the TV. And your audio and video are synchronized at the push of a button. Enjoy the best possible video from your components. The VS-2 video enhancer automatically upscales video sources over HDMI to the highest resolution level your TV accepts, even 1080p. The VS-2 uses power from the Lifestyle system's power supply and passes power through to the media center, so it doesn't need an additional power supply. It can be easily hidden behind the TV. Bose Limited one-year warranty

1 out of 5 stars Won't pass through 1080i via HDMI   January 24, 2008

The concept of the VS-2 sounds great, but in my configuration, it's a paper weight. I have a DirecTv HD-DVR, which can output video from 480i to 1080i. However, when I hook up HDMI from the DVR to the VS-2, and HDMI from the VS-2 to the television, the only way I can get the video signal to the TV is to configure the HD-DVR to put out 480i. So, I basically have to have the HD-DVR downgrade 1080i shows to 480i, just to have the VS-2 upgrade it back. I will have to resort to using composite video from the VS-2 to the television (though I have not tried this yet)to get things to work right. Not using the VS-2 is out of the question, as I can't see the Lifestyle 48's controls (i.e. music library listing, etc...) without it.

5 out of 5 stars VS-2 and the Bose Lifestyle18 System   January 9, 2008

The VS-2 arrived as promised. We have a Lifestyle 18 system and the software update included with the VS-2 did not work. We spoke with Bose and received another update disk which did not work either. Another call to Bose and they said that our system was one of the first and needed yet another update disc before we could use the one included with the VS-2. They were very pleasant and we hope that the disc expected today (free overnight from Bose)will do the trick.

5 out of 5 stars When it works, it works well   December 6, 2007

The first unit i recieved failed after 10 minutes[no video] The second unit is currently working well, but only has a couple of hours running time on it ! These units are very hard to get, getting a replacement was difficult as they were "sold-out". I ended -up getting another unit elsewhere.

2 out of 5 stars Video Switcher only   November 16, 2007
The VS-2 does an ample job of video up-conversion, and is easy to set up and run on your lifestyle system. The primary, glaring and foolish omission is that the unit is not an audio switcher. I cannot figure this out for a second. Why do HDMI switching with no audio? The Lifestyle system is limited to 1 digital optical input, so I thought they were finally addressing this issue here. It is a very disappointing discovery, and makes it hard to justify the extra money over the VS-1.
