Proven time and time again, Omron's IntelliSense technology ensures accurate, clinically-proven, and comfortable readings. And with a 90 memory recall you can track your blood pressure and pulse progress as you work towards a healthier lifestyle. The Omron HEM-637 delivers accurate, clinically-proven blood pressure readings in the comfort of your own home. View larger. | To take an accurate reading, first place the cuff over your left wrist with your left thumb facing upwards. | Next, position the unit, leaving approximately 0.5-inches of space between the edge of the cuff and your palm. | When your wrist reaches the proper position in line with your heart, the monitor beeps and automatically starts. | Instructions for Wrist Blood Pressure Monitors There are several easy steps to taking your blood pressure with this monitor. First of all, avoid eating, smoking, and exercising for at least 30 minutes before taking a measurement. Stress raises blood pressure, so avoid taking measurements during stressful times. Also, measurements should be taken in a quiet place. You should be in a relaxed, seated position with your feet flat on the floor. Before you take your measurement, rest comfortably in a relaxed environment for at least 15 minutes. Place the cuff over your left wrist with your left thumb facing upwards. Position the unit leaving approximately 0.5-inches of space between the edge of the cuff and your palm. Pull the cuff upward while holding the edge of the wrist cuff and wrap snugly. Make sure to lightly press the Velcro closure with your fingers so that it is fastened tightly. Using your elbow as an axis point, slowly raise your left hand at an angle towards your right shoulder. Stop your movement when the heart mark is aligned with the arrow symbol. When your wrist reaches the proper position, the monitor beeps and automatically starts inflation and measurement. Hold your wrist at this position. Do not make any movements until the measurement results are displayed. Once the measurement is complete, the cuff will deflate and your blood pressure and pulse rate will display on the screen. If you need to stop the measurement at any time, simply press the on/off button and the monitor will immediately deflate. And remember, always consult your physician for specific information about your blood pressure. What is IntelliSense? The IntelliSense monitor inflates the cuff to the ideal level with each use -- you never have to make any adjustments to select an inflation level. This is especially convenient for hypertensive users and for people with certain arrhythmia or heart disorders because their blood pressure is so likely to fluctuate. The biggest advantage of using the IntelliSense technology is a personalized inflation, every time, for maximum comfort. The Importance of Home Blood Pressure Monitoring Doctors, diabetes educators, physician assistants, nurses, and other healthcare professionals all recommend home blood pressure monitoring for various reasons. Home monitoring provides your healthcare professionals with better information to understand and manage your high blood pressure. Many types of hypertension can only be detected by monitoring your blood pressure at home, including: - White-Coat Hypertension: blood pressure reading is high in your doctor's office but lower at home
- Masked Hypertension: blood pressure reading is low in doctor's office but higher at home
- Morning Hypertension: blood pressure reading is higher in the morning
Additionally, many factors can affect your blood pressure, including physical exertion, emotional fluctuations, medications, and stress. So having your blood pressure monitored at a pharmacy with an in-store device after you've been shopping or walking around might not provide you with the most accurate measurement. Monitoring your blood pressure at home allows you achieve a relaxed state more easily, and it gives you the flexibility to take your measurements at various times during the day. By keeping track of your home blood pressure readings, you can provide your healthcare professional with a log of your measurements over time. This can help them evaluate the effectiveness or need for medication. What's in the Box HEM-637 wrist blood pressure monitor, storage case, two AA batteries, and instruction manual.

BP Monitor July 25, 2008 This product is great. I researched quite a few others before I bought this one. It is the best rated - and used by a lot of medical facilities. It's very easy to use and I got a great price off Amazon. One of the people I work with had just bought a Walgreen's brand wrist monitor and paid the same I did for this one. This one has the positioning sensor, which assures you are getting accurate readings. LOVE IT
Very Pleased with the Wrist Blood Pressure Monitor July 23, 2008 This is very easy to use. I had Jim test it first since his b/p is pretty stable. It hit it just right. So we knew it was going to be accurate.
It's easy to use, I take my b/p every three days like my doctor has asked and keeping a record of it and my pulse to take in when I go back in three months.
We both recommend this product
stinky July 17, 2008 The blood pressure cuff smelled bad when I took it out of the box; it had no batteries either.
Omron HEM-637 Wrist BP Monitor July 6, 2008 A friend had purchased an earlier version of the Omrom BP monitor. I used it and wanted one like it. The monitor has a few more features than the older model. It appears to 'read' BP accurately. I tested it against an arm band electronic BP monitor and the readings were quite similar. The 'memory' and graphing features are helpful. I'd recommend it.
Easy to use, consistent readings, but inaccurate June 22, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This wrist BP monitor is easy to use, with clear digital readouts. Gives consistent readings but when compared with BP taken with a cuff and stethoscope at the Dr.'s office, the numbers were about 20 points high (both systolic and diastolic. Knowing that, I think is fine for monitoring change over time but if you need to actually know what your BP is, then this model isn't for you. Too bad there is no way to calibrate the monitor.
