Amazon.com Product Description The affordable, entry-level Timex T5G941 is great for those just starting out with heart rate monitoring. This digital wristwatch-style monitor continuously tracks your heart rate via a comfortable, elastic chest strap (which fists chest sizes from 25 to 53 inches). The large, easy-to-read display recalls your activity time and average, peak, and minimum heart rate, and it includes 12/24 hour time and month/date display. It also features INDIGLO night light backlighting for use at night, up to 2 years of battery life, perforated rubbers strap, and water resistance to 30 meters (100 feet)--enabling it to withstand splashes and accidental dunks into the water, but not suitable for swimming.

Didn't work July 25, 2008 The Time/Set button didn't work on this and finally broke off. Although others seem to have had better luck with this HRM, the one I got was a lemon. I'm thinking it's necessary to spend some more money.
Really good Heart Rate Monitor for the price July 3, 2008 This heart rate monitor works great. It gives continuous heart rate info and also sends info to other workout equipment. Large digital read out so I can leave my glasses behind. Very good for the price. I would buy it again.
It misreads when you are on aero bars of your bike June 30, 2008 I am preparing for a triathlon and when I bike (no matter what I do) starts underestimating the heart rate 30-40 bpm while I am mostly doing 135+. It's been more than a year. For running and other sports it works fine.
Promises kept June 27, 2008 It is increasingly rare these days to find a product that performs exactly as promised; this one does! It is easy to use and I have had absolutely no problems with it.
Good Value for the Money June 22, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I am very happy with my Timex heart-rate-monitor watch. I was considering a heart-rate watch that did not require a chest strap, but after a few visits to the health club, I realized that two fingers placed on a watch to get heart rate just couldn't do it. At my Bally's gym, there are several brand new $8,000 stair-climber and treadmill machines, with built in grips to measure heart rate. Yet even using these sophisticated hand grips, it takes sometimes 30 seconds for these multi-thousand-dollar machines to calculate and display my heart rate. That is with two sweaty hands and lots of contact on big metal plates. So my guess is that with a tiny watch and two dry fingers it would take even longer to get a heart rate. With this Timex watch, the elastic (back) and rubber (front) chest strap is comfortable and stays in place. Once it is on I don't feel it, and I forget completely about it. Then for the rest of the time I am wearing it, I have an accurate and immediate display of my heart rate on the watch, without ever having to touch the watch to see what my heart rate is. And all the machines at the gym marked "Polar" pick up on my chest strap radio transmissions and display my heart rate, even though the chest strap is Timex. Highly recommended. For the under-$40 price that I paid, I think this little gadget is terrific.
