Amazon.com Product Description
Combining stylish looks with heart rate monitoring features, this larger Timex Personal Heart Rate Monitor watch (model T5G971) can be worn by both men and women. It features a chest strap heart rate monitor, easily accessible function buttons, durable resin case, and comfortable resin strap with a stylish tapered profile. For integrating heart rate monitoring into your training, this watch enables you to continuously track your heart rate during exercise as well as pre-set target heart rate zones with alarms that notify you when you are out of the zone. It also offers an automatic activity timer and a workout review that recalls activity time and average/peak heart rates. This streamlined watch also has a month/day/date display with 12/24-hour time.

The Indiglo night-light uniformly lights the surface of the watch dial using patented blue electroluminescent lighting technology. It uses less battery power than most other watch illumination systems, enabling your watch battery to last longer. The watch is water resistant to 30 meters (100 feet), which protects it from rain and water splashes. 4 out of 5 stars good value for price   July 12, 2008
Timex T5G971 Unisex Sports Personal Heart Rate Monitor Watch

This product works as advertised, and for the price, is a good value. I've used it for walking, jogging, swimming, and biking. The biggest drawback is that it does not store past workouts, so if I go for a bike ride, stop for coffee and then continue, I cannot store the first leg of the workout until I get home.

5 out of 5 stars Heart Rate Monitor   July 8, 2008
It works wonderfully. Is accurate. The wrist watch is attractive, has time and date plus "recall" to review your workout.

5 out of 5 stars Great tool to monitor your heart rate!   July 6, 2008
Works great and really lets me see that I'm getting my heart rate up high enough during exercise. I was a bit concerned at first about the band that you have to wear around your chest, but it fits right at or under my bra strap and I really forget that it's there. I like tha fact that it shows how many calories you burned as well, because sometimes I'm not sure if the machine at the gym is correct. I am glad I purchased this item. :)

5 out of 5 stars just as advertised   June 25, 2008
I was very happy with this item. Worked with my gym heart rate monitor equipped machines.

1 out of 5 stars Does not have a stopwatch!   June 19, 2008

I suppose it's my own fault for not understanding that an "activity timer" is completely different from a stopwatch, but apparently Timex thinks they are. Buyers, be warned that this watch is pretty much JUST a heart rate monitor - barely even a watch. I wanted something with a stopwatch and heart rate monitor, and thought this watch had those features. The "activity timer" is just a recorder to time how long you had the heart rate monitor activated. As far as I could tell you couldn't look at the time while using the heart rate monitor feature either.
I found the monitor would flake in and out and I had to wear the band very tightly to get it to register. Torso movements such as while spinning, weight lifting or paddling would also cause it to flake out. I think the best use would be for people doing activities like running or using the ellipticals at the gym, since you don't bend your back doing those.
The display is nice and big, but I found the watch too bulky for my small wrists.
