Amazon.com Product Description
Stay within your ideal training and intensity range while jogging or working out with the Polar A4 pulse monitor watch. The strapless watch is easy to use: just press and hold the silver contact button with your fingertips and you're set.

Just press and hold the silver contact button with your fingertips for your heart rate with the A4.
Knowing your heart rate not only helps you reach your personal fitness goal, but also improves your physical condition in general, as it's vitally important to train at the appropriate intensity level. If you exercise too hard, you may quit before you reach the real benefit, but if you work out too leisurely, you'll struggle to lose weight at all. The A4 helps overcome these problems by encouraging you to map out a complete fitness routine.

By itself, the A4 makes a good training aid, but it's particularly valuable when paired with any Polar transmitter, as the two together offer continuous heart rate monitoring. As a result, you'll know what your heart rate is throughout your workout, rather than only when you press the button. Plus, the A4 offers all the standard sports watch functions, including an alarm, calendar, stopwatch, backlight, and target zone alarms. The watch also offers a calorie counting function and exercise file record when combined with a chest strap transmitter (not included). Finally, the watch comes with a zippered black nylon carrying case for protection.

About Polar
The first EKG accurate wireless heart rate monitor was invented by Polar back in 1977 as a training tool for the Finnish National Cross Country Ski Team. The concept of "intensity training" by heart rate swept the athletic world in the eighties. By the 1990s, individuals were looking to heart rate monitors not only for performance training needs, but also for achieving everyday fitness goals. Today, the same concept of heart rate training is being used by world-class athletes as well as everyday people trying to lose weight. Polar is the leading brand among consumers, coaches, and personal trainers worldwide and the company is committed to not only producing the best products, but also being the leading educator on the benefits of heart rate based exercise.

4 out of 5 stars great HR monitor, easy to use   June 30, 2008
I bought this because I like the idea of using it without the chest strap. However, I use my chest strap (had from previous HR monitor) whenever I wear the watch for working out. My only complaint is that it is BIG, especially for a woman to wear. I was hoping with the basic color it could be my everyday watch so I could periodically check my rate. Alas, I only use it while working out then switch back to my woman's sport watch.

3 out of 5 stars works but not all the time   May 19, 2008
i find it that whyle runing the product dosnt give an accurate hr, it fluctuates a lot

4 out of 5 stars Good for price   May 12, 2008
I wanted this watch to check my heart rate during exercise. So far, it has worked pretty good. I occasionally get an obviously wrong reading, but for the most part the readings are correct (or at least within a couple beats of accurate).

The watch has a lot of other features, but I have not bothered to use them.

1 out of 5 stars Disappointing   May 10, 2008
I purchased only the heart rate monitor watch and not the entire assembly which includes a chest strap monitor. The price was extraordinary, and the watch part works fine. Unfortunately, the heart rate mechanism is awkward to use and doesn't give accurate readings. I was very disappointed.

1 out of 5 stars Polar A4 Pulse Heart Rate Monitor   May 9, 2008
I am not happy with this product. The instructions are not clear, and the pulse monitor doesn't work right. Today I was on the treadmill. It went to 124 (oky) later as I stayed on the treadmill, it went to 114 (down with longer workout-no way), then it went to 35. So the longer Istayed on the treadmill, the lower it showed my rate just the opposite of what actually occured. I check my pulse using my neck pulse. Also, often when I try to check my pulse, it takes a long to time booting up, then it says "repress" After doing this three or four times, I fianlly give up and take my neck pulse. This is a bad buy!
