I get together with several friends to use these. I do not recommend (strongly) that you never attempt this alone. The flame gets pretty high so keep a bowl of water handy. Just blowing them out creates alot of smoke and can send red ashes on the carpet or in your hair. But we found seashell crumbles, sand and gnats in our ears as well as water and tons of wax. Great for surfers and swimmers. I don't know about the headache part, though.
