so far it works perfect August 16, 2008 this unit works as advertised. i have a panasonic 46" plasma and as long as i keep the receiver about 3 feet away it doesn't interfere. the receiver does pick up some interference when flourescent lights are first turned on in the room but it just makes the blue indicator light come on for 20 seconds or so. i hope it lasts because this is a great product and i like to support home grown invention. congrats on your success hot link inventor, maybe you can make me a remote controlled variable audio output unit for my tv so i can hook a subwoofer to the audio output which is fixed(therefore the sub volume can't be controlled) on all but sony tvs.
Works well! August 15, 2008 Installation couldn't be much easier and the unit really picks up IR from my remotes much better than the sensors that are built into the equipment that I'm controlling. I'm very pleased.
Great item, Easy to Use and Cheaper than others August 4, 2008 I bought this to use with my new cable box and HK Receiver which is in a closed cabinet. This thing is a breeze to setup. I placed one "eye" near the IR port of my cable box and it worked instantly. The other was a little harder. Apparently if you tape the transmitting eye near the spot on the HP AVR 340 it will not get the signal, the key is to have it about 1 inch away from the IR receiving position on the receiver. After this modification it all works like a charm.
Hot Link Pro is Hot August 4, 2008 I bought the Hot Link Pro so that I could keep my cabinet with all the components closed. It took me awhile to figure out that the eye has to be in a dark place. When I set it up initially the sun would hit the eye in the morning and it wouldn't work correctly. I moved the eye under the cabinet behind a leg, and it now works perfect. I would recommend it.
Exactly as advertised July 29, 2008 Can't say anything other than what's already been said. Unit is simple to setup. We don't have a high-end cabinet like most of the people who usually need this. Our needs are simple: our cable box is located on the lower shelf in our plasma cabinet and we needed an IR repeater that would work with a Plasma screen. Once you get the receiver mounted BEHIND the TV, all works as advertised. We no longer have to re-aim the remote down towards the floor to register button presses with our cable box.
Just remember to follow the instructions clearly - mount the receiver behind the TV. Flat-panel TVs emit A LOT of IR interference and if you mount the receiver anywhere in front of the TV, the unit will register a lot of interference.
