Amazon.com Product Description The high-performance HDTVa amplified indoor HDTV antenna from Terk Technologies is designed to capture both UHF and VHF signals (channels 2 to 69) while extending the reception range for all local HDTV broadcasts. The HDTVa uses an ultra-low-noise, high-gain amplifier with Terk's exclusive Dual-Drive Amplifier technology for clear reception of both distant and close HDTV and DTV stations. As suitable for those living in city apartments as for those in suburban homes, the compact HDTVa lets viewers experience HDTV broadcasts in full resolution. Designed for total reception versatility, the HDTVa's high-gain antenna array can be oriented either horizontally or vertically within its mounting base to achieve optimum capture of off-air broadcasts. Set the amplifier to high-gain mode to compensate for signals that are too weak or might otherwise be bypassed for a stronger signals nearby. Simplifying your installation, the HDTVa uses Terk's Power Injector to derive power via its coaxial connecting cable. The result? One cable is all you have to connect, making it easy to install the HDTVa atop or near your television. The antenna is engineered to receive all local HDTV channels, with an operating bandwidth covering both the UHF (channels 2 to 13) and VHF (channels 14 to 69) frequency ranges. Its highly directional log periodic UHF and precision VHF elements are designed to receive HDTV broadcasts with maximum signal strength while rejecting all or most interference. The HDTVa is as exceptional in appearance as it is in performance: its curved, tapering, polished-aluminum antenna elements are mounted in a slim base with a contoured front that visually complements the curve of the antenna elements. What's in the Box Antenna with integrated 75-ohm cable, instruction manual, and warranty information.

Better than expected September 6, 2008 Plain and simple. I wasn't sure how this would work, but it works. One cable plugs in to the antenna in on your HD TV and that's it. Point the antenna towards your towers and you are good to go. I was 12 miles from most of my antennas in the Jacksonville Florida area. Great picture!!
Fantastic! September 6, 2008 I just bought a converter box for my old analog TV. When I hooked up my old rabbit ears that I've been using for oh, 10 years, I found out that they couldn't pick up a strong enough signal for the converter box to detect.
After a hour or so of looking around at antennas and reviews, I picked this one. The nearest station to me is over 30 miles away. Not only does it pick up the local stations (The 30 mile away ones) and some over 40 miles away.
I couldn't be any happier with my purchase! I'd defiantly recommend it.
good antenna September 5, 2008 i got this thinking it would not work i and i sometimes get channels in NYC 120 miles and i live in Atlantic city and i get the Philadelphia that is about 50 miles away. it is a good antenna sometimes it does not work duting day. works best at night
Overpriced and poor reception September 4, 2008 This is a cheap piece of plastic with a few metal vanes stuck in it. It has the same quality as a flea market item, and probably costs a few bucks to make. The price is outrageous.
The design is top-heavy. Coax antenna cable isn't very flexible, which makes it very hard to get the antenna to stand up and stay up. We had to reposition the antenna depending on which channel we wanted to watch, which meant moving the antenna and then fiddling with the cable until it stayed upright. Really annoying.
Of all of the antenna we tried, this one had the worst reception. The best was the Antennas Direct DB2 Multi Directional HDTV Antenna which is ugly for indoors (we moved it outdoors), but did an excellent job pulling in stations.
I have to wonder who is giving Terk products 5 star reviews and suspect that they hire people to write glowing reviews. This is the second Terk product we've bought and certainly the last as both were high priced, of poor quality, didn't do what they claimed they did, and were basically cheap knockoffs of well known company's products.
If you have to have this design, search for the Philips/Zenith model here on Amazon. It is a better version.
it works most of the time September 3, 2008 It receives signals from most of the local channels with the exception of channel 2. However, it must be pointed to different directions for different channels. Overall, it saves some money by replacing the dish network service.
