Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
The IPBCK, designed for third and fourth generation iPods and iPod minis, or UBCK designed for universal MP3 players, will work with aftermarket head units with RCA inputs. For those who like flexibility with their music, the Bluetooth interface will allow a passenger in the front or back seat to control the iPod or MP3 unit playing through the vehicle's head unit. Included in the vehicle kit are a 12volt car charger, rechargeable transmitter, and the necessary cables for a simple installation.

Amazon.com Product Description
The two most common methods of playing your iPod in the car--via an FM transmitter or auxiliary input--both do the job but come with their own set of problems. An FM transmitter is wireless and convenient, but the sound quality isn't so hot. An auxiliary input, on the other hand, improves the sound, but the cumbersome cable often gets in the way. Enter the Scosche Bluetooth hands-free car kit, which combines the utility of a wireless option with topnotch hi-fidelity sound. The car kit is simple to use: just plug your iPod into the wireless Bluetooth transmitter, then connect the receiver to your stereo's auxiliary input. Once you're plugged in, you can enjoy your entire iPod library through your car's stereo speakers--all without the hassle of multiple cables.

The car kit is also compatible with Bluetooth-enabled cell phones, letting you answer your cell phone on the road while enjoying the safety and convenience of hands-free communication. The Bluetooth transmitter will play the phone's audio through your stereo speakers for added utility.

Other details include a built-in rechargeable battery for the wireless transmitter, a car power adapter for your cigarette lighter plug, an audio cable, and a pair of mounting options designed specifically for iPods. It's even possible to install the receiver module in the back of the car, as it works from up to 30 feet away. The car kit--which is compatible with any iPod or MP3 player with a 3.5 mm headphone jack--is backed by a 90-day warranty.

Note: The Bluetooth car kit requires a car stereo with an auxiliary input or a brand-name stereo with a set of RCA inputs.

What's in the Box

1 out of 5 stars Doesn't play nice with wifi   January 15, 2008

I bought this item on ebay to connect to a set of speakers I had spare. I also have wifi in the house, and there are several access points around the area. This receiver cuts out after a few minutes of playing music, and most often when my laptop is on and I use the internet.

I am also unable to change the volume with my phone, despite my phone supporting the option. I'm disappointed with this product and will be throwing it away.

I bought this unit so I could wirelessly connect my 4th Gen iPod to my car stereo which has an AUX input. The sound quality is great and you can even adjust the sound on the back of the bluetooth reciever to make it louder!

2 out of 5 stars What's the point?   February 12, 2007

This thing makes no sense. I received it as a gift. Instead of just running a wire from the back of your stereo, you need to deal with all of these bulky, awkward electronics and multiple wires. I cannot believe that this thing made it to market.
