Combining a traditional corded handset with a 5.8 GHz cordless handset, the Uniden CEZAI998 offers cordless convenience when you want it, but will continue to provide basic phone service in the event of a power outage. The design also makes it an ideal choice for people with visual or hearing impairments: backlit, oversize keypad buttons on both the base and the cordless handset, an LED visual ring indicator and complete hearing aid compatibility work together to improve functionality. The base includes a fully digital answering system with up to 15 minutes of recording time. Additional features include an audible message alert, toll saver, remote message retrieval and a choice between personalized or prerecorded outgoing messages. With subscription to local service, the phone is compatible with Call Waiting Caller ID, and will display the name, number and date and time of each call on the oversize, backlit LCD, and will store up to 50 names and numbers so you can return calls at the touch of a button. A good product July 21, 2008
This product does everything promised, and a few more things I didn't expect. My only criticism is that the cordless phone is heavier than I expected. However, I would buy this phone again.
 It didn't work July 2, 2008
I bought this product for my parents who live in another country (Romania) after much research and it seemed to fit all my needes; I receieved it very fast and when I saw it I was very happy: indeed, it was what I needed. However, after installing it back there it with much fanfare, many features didn't work. It didn't hold the date (after setting the date, it was turning back to flashing) and the answering machine didn't work at all. I couldn't bring it back to return it because I came back through other countries so I couldn't carry it and therefore I just lost the money. My mom said though that she could hear better when talking on this phone than on others. At least one thing was good.

I have carpal tunnel in both hands. Using the small phones really hurt my wrists. Not only does this phone have big numbers, flashing lights, and talking caller id, but it is wide enough for my hands to hold without causing pain. I am buying one for my parents!

Way more phone than my wife thought she was getting. Best phone have had to date and this includes the top two big names which we are also using.
You WILL NOT GO WRONG WITH THIS PHONE. Voice is far clearer and has better buttons than my new Panasonic.

The phone has answered all our needs I do have two minor complaints. Not enough space for storing phone numbers and a telephone cord that is much too short. Had to go to Walmart to get a longer cord.Do love the phone though.
