    Amazon.com Product Description
Things may go bump in the dark, but you don't have to be one of them! The First Alert motion sensing light socket turns the light onN when you enter a room or open a closet, and then turns it off after you leave. It combines the safety and security of a well-lit room with the convenience of easy installation. The hands-free motion sensor screws right into a standard, uncovered light socket, just like a light bulb. No additional wiring is required. The socket senses motion within 360 degrees and is ideal for laundry rooms, garages, basements, attics, walk-in closets, and stairways. Use with 25 to 100-watt bulbs. Not for outdoor use.--Bree Norlander

    1 out of 5 stars Terrible...   October 7, 2008
This product worked in our closet intermittently for 3 days, then it completely stopped sensing motion at all. If the switch is on, the light is on. If the switch is off, the light is off.

Terrible product experience. I'd suggest avoiding this one completely.

4 out of 5 stars Dark Cellar   October 3, 2008
Before installing this auto light switch I had to descend a dark stairway to my cellar. A definite safety issue.
Now with the motion sensing light socket in place the stairs are illuminated prior to my first step down.
A great product at a bargain price!

3 out of 5 stars works great in the right space   October 2, 2008
First Alert Motion Sensing Light Socket

I have pull chain lights in my walk in closets and when the chain broke and couldn't be fixed I looked for a new solution to the chain. My handyman suggested the sensor light socket. I could not find one at Home Depot, Lowes, Walmart or Target but the employee at Home Depot told me First Alert made one...so I went online, found it and bought 2 of them.

Fortunately for me, the closet I needed it in has the right elements for it to work properly. I've tried it in 2 other closets and it didn't work. It has to be low enough from the ceiling to sense when you walk in and if your light fixture is close to where you walk in, it doesn't read the movement. I had to jump up with my arm in the air to get it to sense movement in one of the closets.

It's a great concept and it works under the right conditions.

5 out of 5 stars Best product for basement ever   September 30, 2008
If you have an older home with pull string lights or then this is the best product for you. You never have to walk in or out of a dark room again.

1 out of 5 stars Never turns off   September 27, 2008
Beware. The light never turns off. There are no knobs or any way to adjust the time or sensitivity like other motion sensors. I used this in our attic. I have had it less than a few weeks. It worked fine for about a week, detecting motion and turning on then turning off after a few minutes, but now the light just stays on all the time. I would return it but I dont have the packaging/slip so I'm just out my $22.00.
