great portabale HD July 18, 2008 great drive lots of space, and no power cord needed, gets its power thru the USB
So far so good July 18, 2008 Was easy to install even though I also reformatted it like other reviewers. So far it works nice, quiet, and fast.
Great value, finally a single-cable USB drive that works! July 17, 2008 Do the math - for the price of a 32g flash, you get 320g of storage. Plus, this is the first USB-powered drive you may ever see that operates entirely off a single USB connection. There's no power brick, no second USB cable for extra current, and no current overuse damaging your computer. This is the real deal!
This would be the ultimate accessory for your portable Mac for Time Machine backups. For those of you who watch free video collected on the 'net, this is great for transporting TV and movies between your main PC and a cheap old box or a laptop hooked up to your TV.
Performance is a little light - I get about 15 megabytes per second. But this is plenty for playing back movies, running incremental backups and transporting files between machines. You can do your video editing on your built-in drive. :)
great product July 17, 2008 Since I started to have problems with my comp and wanted to restore it, I bought this external hard disc to save 100G of my files. Works great, fast, no problems so far. I suggest it to everyone as a back up unit for your files. You don't realize how much stuff (music, videos, pics) you have and could possibly lose (luckily I still could run safe mode) and burning DVD's is not option for me anymore. Also, big thanks to Amazom. My first delivery was on time and signed by our office (I live in apartment) but later I found out the office was closed that day. I contacted Amazon and they send another without any hussle. I will be definitely using Amazon for my future shopping.
piece of junk: or the making of a doorstop... July 15, 2008 0 out of 5 found this review helpful
I bought this MyBook 320GB about 3 months ago... it was always a drag on my system, but last eve it got to be an anchor... today it is nothing more than a doorstop!!! I will never buy (after over 10 years of buying WD HD's mind you!) another WD product, not if it is the last HD on the face of the Earth! "What's your back-up plan?" says their website, I notice no customer comments allowed! My back-up is the 93GB of data on the disc that quit working for me last night and is now dead in the water. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT. I am so mad I could eat 16d nails and spit tacks.
