Set it & forget it... October 3, 2008 After setting my HT system I ran into a huge problem. I hooked up all my HDMI devices to my Yamaha receiver with the HDMI output of the receiver connected to the projector. However, when playing HD discs on the computer I would get an error "Your device is an HDMI repeater...". Connecting the PC directly to the projector avoided this issue. But, that meant that I'd to have one HDMI connection directly from the PC to the projector, a optical audio output for PC audio to the receiver, & another HDMI connection from the receiver to the projector (for everything else). Amazingly, this one OPPO device changed all that! Now, I have both the PC & the receiver connected to the OPPO & a single HDMI going to the projector. The remote for OPPO is really redundant b/c it automatically switches when it detects an input signal. This device is highly recommended.
Great HDMI Adapter September 23, 2008 I had a ton of problems with my XtremeMac switcher with my Samsung TV. I was told by XtremeMac that the tolerances on Samsung TV's and the copy protection builit into HDMI causes problems.
I called OPPO and spoke with an engineer. He told me that their components are superior and I should not have any trouble. I gave it a shot and it is great. Too bad because I like the XtremeMac form factor but at the end of the day it has to work and the OPPO does it consistently.
Works great at reasonable cost September 18, 2008 Have an older Sony Bravia LCD with only one HDMI input. Bought this switch to allow connection of three HDMI devices. Switches between inputs with no problems. Used a Home TM MX-500 learning remote to 'learn' the OPPO codes and can switch between cable, DVD and Game with one button on the MX-500.
Almost perfect September 9, 2008 The OPPO HM-31 works fine switching between the ROKU box and OPPO DVD player. It would not pass a perfect picture though when used with DELL Inspiron laptop. The Dell has to have its own TV input to work without flickering.
A Must Have product for those with limited HDMI inputs September 8, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
We have a Sony HDTV with only one HDMI input. The TV is still an excellent performer, and I was not ready to spend another $2,500 on a new TV, but I really wanted a Blu Ray player. I also felt like "why get a Blu Ray if you aren't going to get HDMI as the input."
I looked and while there are several HDMI switches available, this one is CLEARLY head and shoulders above the rest.
Set up was a breeze. We use Dish Network Vip 722, and a Panasonic Blu Ray player.
There was absolutely no degredation in picture or audio quality. Using the TV is input 3 is great. You simply click the "on" button for the Blu Ray player and it switches to that input, no need to touch the Oppo remote. Once the movie is over, or you are done watching, it, click power off, and about 15 seconds later it auto switches back to TV.
Yes there is a brief lag between sources, but that is a small price to pay for this level of quality and simplicity of use.
This is not only highly recommended, it is a MUST HAVE for the HDMI input challenged.
