Product Description
The iPod Compatible 3.5mm to Dock Connector Audio Cable allows you to play music from your iPod through your home or car stereo, computer, or notebook. The dock connector sends line level audio out from your iPod, providing better sound quality then when using the headphone jack. The dock connector also allows you to control the volume of your iPod through your stereo or computer instead of having to adjust the volume on the iPod. This cable works with all iPods with a dock connector, and the lightweight construction makes it easy to take it anywhere you go.

4 out of 5 stars Not for iPhone   June 21, 2008
I didn't read closely enough, mesmerized as I was by the low, low price and my new aux input that I installed. I planned on using my iPhone to see if this connection would sound better than using a jack from the phone's antenna to the aux. Just an experiment. But, I couldn't do that because it doesn't work with the phone, just the iPods it says it works on. So, a $4.99 tax for not reading the label.

1 out of 5 stars Only comes through in mono!   June 18, 2008
I bought this for use with my Nano (3rd-gen). I chose this item over Cable-to-Go's offering because of the better price. Construction isn't bad, a little on the cheap side. But it doesn't work right with my Sony car stereo; only the right channel gets any sound. Too cheap to even bother returning, but still a big disappointment.

2 out of 5 stars Great! until it stops working.   June 6, 2008
I had this wire in my car for about 4 or 5 months and just the other day i picked up my ipod to change the track and something must had come loose because now only the right channel comes through the stereo. Other than that, it was a great product while it lasted.

5 out of 5 stars Great for car stereo   May 27, 2008

If you have an AUX input and don't have a dedicated iPod interface in your car, this is a better way for sending audio from your iPod thru your car stereo than via the headphone jack on the iPod. The line-level signal is a better way to connect, sort of like the RCA cables for your home stereo, but you can't adjust the volume through the iPod; volume adjustment is done through the head unit (car stereo). So even if you have the volume on your iPod set to the lowest, you can still crank it up on your car stereo. The cable is also long enough for me to route it behind the center console and into the glove compartment, so I don't have visible cable clutter.
The only issue is that you must unplug the headphones on your iPod in order to have line-level signal send to your car stereo's AUX input, but that's the way iPods work, not the effect from the adapter cable. Also, personally, I'd prefer the 3.5mm plug being right angled, but I can always get an angle adapter elsewhere.

5 out of 5 stars It works fine.   May 2, 2008
Bought this a couple of months ago and it works fine. Quality is decent (nothing has broken off or deteriorated so far) and the cable seems sturdy. Using the dock connection allows me to use other accessories that are top mounted and gives better sound when playing high quality sound files. However, if it's just a regular MP3 and is being played in a regular car stereo, the overall sound experience will be pretty much as if you were plugging into the headphone jack. In could not find this item in any Canadian stores, so Amazon came through once again. Overall I'm happy with this purchase and for the price I have no complaints.
