4 out of 5 stars Great quality printing, a little complicated and slow.   October 5, 2008
I traded up my Panasonic FHD351 which I loved and used every day for the last 3 years for this machine. The laser/toner system is far superior in quality and more economical. The machine is a lot larger than the Panasonic transfer film type of machines, but worth taking up the extra space for the added print and fax quality. It works well with a telephone with an answering machine in it, as well as just an answering machine. (Too bad there wasn't an answering machine incorporated in it) The set up is not so easy, and there are a LOT of features and settings that you need to read about to set it up. It is a little slower in response while faxing and printing than I expected, but it is worth taking the extra time. My biggest criticism is that it is not a speakerphone, and when you dial a number with the speaker/ monitor, there is a very long delay in the time from when you hit the number, to the sound of the keypad. It is very annoying and distracting and makes you think you missed a number, and you have to dial slowly to let the sound catch up to your dialing. There is no volume control unless you scroll into data registration/user settings/scroll down to volume, so on and so on. There also doesn't seem to be a default setting to return to, so if you change something, and realize you didn't want to, you have to scroll through everything until you figure out what it was you changed. If you spend the time reading the manual, you will find hundreds of features, but many of them unexplained in the text. (Pauses, ring times, time out,)? Nevertheless, its quality and performance and price make it a good choice, but you will need time to figure a lot of it out on your own. If you need a simple machine with an answering device, speakerphone, and small size go for the Panasonic FHD351. If you want great print/fax quality, this is your machine.

5 out of 5 stars Nice fax   September 28, 2008
Works well out of the box. Easy to program & set up. Recommended for home office & small business use.

1 out of 5 stars This will ruin your life   September 24, 2008
Our office has this fax machine and it makes everything more difficult. It cannot just take one page at a time--ever, in any circumstance. It jams constantly; it LIES (the fax receipts are not accurate); and it makes our customers call us, outraged that they've spent 20 minutes trying to fax two pages to us.

If you typically receive one page faxes from local numbers, this machine may be okay for your needs.

If you require a functional machine that can actually handle its ONLY PURPOSE IN EXISTENCE, this machine may not be for you.

2 out of 5 stars This fax is nothing but trouble   July 22, 2008
We get nothing but paper jams on outgoing as well as incoming. You can never do a multiple page fax as many pages go through. I literally have to hand feed any multiple page fax and make sure it goes through. Most times I have to send it twice. I would not buy this machine ever. It is going in the trash as soon as my new one comes in.

4 out of 5 stars Overall, a great machine   May 29, 2008
I use this in a small construction office. The fax is great. The copies are terrific. My only two negatives are that sometimes it pulls more than one sheet of paper - really annoying during a check run. And my machine sometimes spazzes into "Check paper size" error which is easily corrected by pressing the reset button a few times. Other than those items, a real workhorse. Definetely made me a Canon fan!
