Fuse is internal! July 28, 2008 I have a stupid waterproof 12volt plug that has 1 white and 1 grey wire. Well, the thing got hooked up backwards and then the Zune charger was plugged into it . . . without the Zune attached. It seems to have blown the fuse, which is usually a screw off tip on the unit. Not this $30 unit. I can't replace the fuse so it's going to get returned, after I buy a new one. LOL Ohhhhh, BTW the white wire is - and the grey wire is +. Good thing my FM transmitter has a replaceable fuse. Other than the fuse being internal, this is a very nice charger. But, useless without a fuse.
Worked well with my Zune. September 4, 2007 Nothing really much to say other then what was in the title. I had about a 6 hour drive to go on and the charger worked throughout most of the trip. I would recommend this for anyone that has to go on long car trips.
If you are having problems, try this June 28, 2007 0 out of 5 found this review helpful
At first I was disappointed with this product. Using the lighter outlet on the dash, I could find a decent frequency to use, but would catch a lot of bleed over occaisionally. Which is less than ideal.
I decided to try the other lighter outlet which is located between the front seats. Here, the product works great. No problem what-so-ever. Apparently, this is set up to use existing wiring/metal to increase the dipole size of the basically non-existent antenna.
If you do not have a 2nd outlet there is another trick you can use. Purchase a lighter outlet extension cord and drape it over your rear view mirror, or anything which won't obstruct your vision. This will assist in increasing the dipole length to give you a better transmission.
Comparing with the Belkin product; The Belkin appears to transmit a little bit better, but there also seems to be a loss in Db quality. Although the sound is clear, I have to adjust my volume almost all the way up, which brings down the quality of sound. After figuring out the Zune car charger, I prefer to use the Zune product, even though it doesn't have the convinient holder.
Large and In Charge! May 14, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
The Zune Car Charger does what is supposed to do. It charges the Zune player just fine. If you use a FM transmitter to play your Zune through your car radio, be prepared for some electrical noise feedback from your engine's charging system. I use Monster Cable's FM Transmitter. Monster iCarPlay Plus Wireless FM Transmitter/Charger for iPod I try to charge it while I'm not listening to the unit. If your engine's not running, or if you have a direct line in to your car's player, you'll be fine.
Works just fine May 6, 2007 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
There's really not much to review but I figured I would counter the other (misguided) review on this item. The charger works just as fine for powering the Zune while in the car. I pretty much leave my Zune in the car and this lets me do that without having to periodically bring it inside for charging. The part that goes into the cigarette lighter is rather large so take that into account if you have any kind of obstructions around your power socket. The only other thing I noticed that surprized me a little was that the Zune display stays on when connected to the charger and playing music. There's nothing really wrong with that but I was just expecting the screen to go dark like it does when it is not connected to power. Oh, I also like the coiled cord which makes things a bit tidier than having a lot of loose cable cluttering up the console area. I recommend this product.
