4 out of 5 stars A bit expensive, but I would purchase again   October 9, 2008
I'm very happy with the battery grip so far. The vertical shutter release is great, and the extra battery time is remarkable. I keep looking down at the indicator and am always surprised to see so much battery life left. The price is expensive, that's really the only drawback, but I leave it on the camera full time and the value that I get for the work I do is worth the price. The grip definitely adds weight, although if battery life is not your primary concern, you could run with only one battery. The largest value in the grip to me is the vertical shutter release, which keeps my right hand in natural position. That's why I purchased it in the first place. Battery life was my second concern.

5 out of 5 stars Battery grips rock!   September 19, 2008
Since buying this I have upgraded cameras but if you are a DSLR user and use the camera in portrait mode even 25% of the time, get a battery grip. I currently own a 1D camera so it has a battery grip built into it.
I highly recommend this for the 5D.

5 out of 5 stars Love it!   September 17, 2008
I can go days without charging a battery, and on multiple photo shoots. This really provides an added convenience, and I would highly recommend it.

5 out of 5 stars A must have   August 31, 2008
Adds even more battery power. It seems that I need to recharge my 5D every few thousand frames if that. I feel comfortable leaving for a few days without my charger packed. It also makes the 5D look like a 1D series camera

5 out of 5 stars A must!   August 18, 2008
It's a must for any serious and almost serious shooter! Giving you the flexibility of having the extra battery and also of having a regular AA size battery holder for those times when you forget to recharge your Canon batteries, the BG-E4 also extends your ability of shooting in portrait mode. It also adds the benefits of camera stability when shooting slower speeds than 1/30. I have shot up to 1/8 of a second handheld with good results.
