4 out of 5 stars GOOD   July 9, 2008
i bought this for a bounce effect in the madam tusand where the ceeling is so high above that i cou;dn't bounce my flash .. this works great with the SB-400 and fits perfectly.
works great .. but at the end of the day .. a plastic cap for $13 is too much to pay for. but since there is no option :(. i bouhgt it

5 out of 5 stars Great Product. Exactly what I needed   May 3, 2008

I bought an SB400 for my D40 a few months ago and I loved the light when bouncing it off the ceiling, but I had trouble shooting vertical shots without a white(ish) wall close by or shooting period with a high ceiling. The Omni-Bounce gives great natural light with softer shadows behind the subject. If you want cheap, natural light from the tiny SB400 in nearly any environment, GET THIS!!!! It slipped on the nose of the flash with zero trimming and no fitting issues. By the way, if you're still using the built in flash for indoor shots, get the SB400 and this and you'll be all set. The built-in is fine for fill flash outdoors, but it gives harsh, unnatural, blue light and hard, dark backgrounds. Get the SB400 for like $130 full price and the Omni-Bounce and never look back.

5 out of 5 stars Great Diffuser   April 5, 2008

This diffuser works well - best in spaces that aren't too large, but it gets the job done. It's a great alternative for when pointing the flash at something is too harsh, but the ceiling is too tall to bounce the flash.

5 out of 5 stars Handy little diffuser for the SB-400   March 28, 2008

I purchased the Sto-fen diffuser primarily because I was worried about the SB-400 not swiveling for vertical shots. With a little practice you get nicely lit shots without the typical harsh lighting associated with flashes. It works very well for illuminating the entire shot --- it's one subtle difference I've noticed between a diffuser and a bounce card. I do like using both but if you want to capture objects in the background the diffuser is the way to go (the bounce card tends to highlight the main subject while background items are darker).

I know there are a lot of DIY diffusers out there but this one isn't too expensive and isn't bulky. Very nice product.

5 out of 5 stars does the job   February 22, 2008

This diffuser is cheap, easy to use, and does the job. When possible, I use the SB-400's bounce feature to create more even, less harsh lighting. Sometimes the bounce isn't usable (e.g., outdoors or for macro photos). In those cases, this diffuser does a great job.
