3 out of 5 stars Not a bad set   January 11, 2007

The 32mm and 9mm Plossls are great. The Barlow is adequite and the rest should be replaced later! Good strong case and the moon filters work wonderfully!
Perfect price point for what you get.
Would recommend this set for the beginner looking to expand his EP collection for as little $ as you can.

5 out of 5 stars low price.. high enjoyment   January 5, 2007

I think is a "must" for any beginner, for a low price you can have almost all the different size of EP. Try them for a few months and then when you will be completely sure what do you want and buy the EP that you need.

5 out of 5 stars No doubt about it, great deal   August 17, 2006

After reading every review I could lay by hands on, I finally took the plunged and ordered this from Amazon. All I can say is, the reviews are not kidding, an amazing deal. The quality of the eyepieces surprised me at this price, I especially like the 32mm eyepiece, great field of view!. The case is solid, and with extra room for more bits as I get them. I haven't tried the filters yet, but even if they do half what they promise, with everything else in the box I am very happy.

4 out of 5 stars Great for the begining amateur (PS Im not really a kid)   March 11, 2006

For the begining astronomer this is a great deal/product. While it may not be the BEST quality is is sufficient for the person who is just starting out. Just for the record im an AMATEUR so i only can compare it to common sense and the EPs the scope came with. But before u fork out the money make sure u need this many eyepieces. thers always the option of a barlow and 1 or 2 other EPs. Heres my take:

Eyepieces: Iv found the eyepieces to be quite good. The coating on the 32mm seems to be fragile but it could just be more moisture got on it than i know about. I haven't noticed a drastic change in performance though. A nice combonation of magnifications. the 4mm &* 6mm have very short eye reliefe.

FILTERS: i havnt gotten to use these alot yet.

BARLOW: this is my major complaint with this kit. the first one i got the barlow had a major blemish so i returned it (not through amazon) and the second one had a very small blemish. When i use the barlow at high X on planets i start so see some specs in the image. Over all the barlow isn't that great quality, it is still fine though unless ur a perfectionest like me.

VERDICT: for the beginner this is a GREAT kit. it maynot be the quality of Televues but is good enough to get started as it provides a good combination for DSOs and planetary observing.

5 out of 5 stars Celestron eye-piece accessory   October 11, 2005

I have used all 5 of the eyepieces and the Barlow 2X with my Celestron Nexstar 8" SCT. I am pleased with the variety of eyepieces provided and found the 6mm, 9mm, 15 mm and 32 mm to perform very well. The 4mm has been used less frequently. To have a family of eyepieces to choose from at the price of $119 is a good value. The 2X barlow works very well with 9mm and above eyepieces and also with the 25 mm standard eyepiece. I have not had a chance to really use the filters yet but am confident they will provide enhancements as designed. The same item was found on Hungate's website at $149 and was priced at $199 in the local Hungate store. I purchased at Amazon for $119 and free shipping. The time of order to delivery was about 1 week. I would highly recommend to a beginner that is anxious to have a variety of eyepieces to view the planets. Better quality is available but the kit provides a handy storage and travel case with expansion spaces. I even store my camera's lens adapter there. After all is said, I am glad I bought the kit and consider it a very good value.
