Not bad, not great March 24, 2007 0 out of 8 found this review helpful
OK HP have maybe 25% lemon printers, but they have lots.
Dunno yet for the 9800. Quality OK. Page size kinda difficult. Price great.
Change-more soon.
Not up to the Task--Miserable Tech Support March 24, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
We had this printer less than 6 months before the cartridge slider began to jam. We would get an error message, and then would have to reset the printer and reboot the computer to get it to work for a short while. We finally ended up sending back the printer on their exchange program, after I had to ask to speak to a supervisor. (The tech support wanted us to install a free ink cartridge when I had already installed several before contacting them) We have had the replacement printer less than two months and are already experiencing problems again. The ink cartridge is pooling ink under the cartridge rest area in a very heavy amount, and the cartridge slider again has begun to jam. Tech support has had us clean the plastic tape that pulls the cartridge carrier back and forth, and for now the unit is working. We still haven't addressed the excessive ink leak which probably has something to do with the jamming problem. I hope HP reviews comments on this website occasionally. I would like them to know I have believed in their printers and used them successfully for years, but my latest experience has caused me to reexamine that position. Also, HP tech support is very difficult to deal with at best. I talked to several overseas tech support reps that spoke almost unintelligible English. I am one consumer willing to pay a little more for a product that is well supported. HP are you listening?
Great for 11x17 Preliminary reviews March 17, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
If you need something inexpensive like I did to show clients your preliminary sketches....then this is the printer to go with. It gives you clean black lines for your drawings..and for a Preliminary plan, that's all one needs. Instead of having to waste your 24x36 Plotter paper, this is the way to go. Changing the paper sizes can be a little cumbersome...but hey for the price, it works...:-)
not bad, but not good enough for the price February 9, 2007 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
i just bought this printer 2 days ago, i'm a jurior graphic designer
it was very easy to install
it print nicly on the thicker matt paper too
however, there was always some paper feeding problem that i really don't know why that would happen it doesn't cause any problem for me so far but i'm not sure how long i can deal with this when i need something done fast and correct
another thing is the weird stroke right in the middle of the paper from the top to bottom
I JUST BOUGHT THIS PRINTER "2" DAYS AGO!!!
and i tried to get it tested and clean and ... nothing changed.
still that annoying stroke in the middle! and i tried to search on hp support... what a horrible info page.
nothing important you can find, very confusing too!
so sad that this is a large format printer for home, and it prints quiet too.
i guess i'm gonna put everything back to the box and return it afterall
maybe invest more money on the epson r1800~
Junk- stay away from this model! January 25, 2007 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
Got my printer Dec. 31st and have been really excited about producing 12x12 scrapbook pages. Well it is Jan 24th and I just got my 12x12 sheets delieverd and guess what? It won't print them. Just as other customers stated the paper just spits out blank. I called the place I purchased it from and they are working with HP to get me my money back. It works fine for 8 1/2 x 11 pages, but doesn't recognize the 12x12 pages and that the reason I purchased it. Stay away from this one - you will be frustrted!
