3 out of 5 stars Epson 2400   May 14, 2007

I bought this product a month ago. I was very excited to get it because I had heard so many good things about it. I began using it and I noticed I was having issues with the front loader smearing my pictures. Then the sheet feeder would not feed. THis all happened in a matter of using it only a few times. SInce I had a project due, I switched back to using my Epson R300. Mr. Reliable. Anyhow after my exhibit, I started using the R2400 again. It still wouldn't work. Having dealt with out sourced services groups before, I was reluctant to call but did. I do have to say that they were responsive. After a few questions and testing, they decided to send me a replacement. I received it within 4 days and immediately tested it out. So far so good. Although I do notice there is still a little smearing on the front loader but it may be the paper. I need to work with that more since I do a lot of work with canvas. Anyhow so far so good. I have loved my R300 so I am hoping that the new one will warm my heart as that one does. I haven't used everything on this so can only give a limited review. The colors are beautiful and vibrant. THe photos are breathtaking. Can't wait to use the black and white.

4 out of 5 stars Great printer   May 6, 2007

Let me start by saying: YOU NEED TO CALIBRATE YOUR MONITOR WITH YOUR PRINTER TO GET THE BEST PRINTS. Also, go to Epson and download the printer profiles. I actually won this printer in a contest, and had never really used a top of the line printer like this. The first couple things I printed looked horrible, I was really disappointed. The color contrast was out of whack, they didn't "pop" at all. Then I went through the calibration process and things are much better. Try the velvet fine art paper, it's amazing!

5 out of 5 stars A Very Good photo printer for color & B&W   April 14, 2007

This thing prints amazing color and B&Ws. If you don't need b&W's, save the $250 and get the R1800. Yep, the changing cartridges is a pain and it does drink ink, but if quality is your primary focus this is a good deal. It took me a while to get the color profiles setup between my computer and printer (make sure you have the paper profiles), but after some messing around I got it where I wanted it. I found epson luster paper to be great for color and velvet fine art paper my B&W choice (it's a bit softer than matte). When you buy this, make sure you spend another $100 bucks for the full backup color cartrigedes, it takes about 1 full set to get your colors right (or it did for me at least). But this is a professional level printer, and if you have good shots, this can be your one stop printer.

I would describe this as the Porsche of printers. Not cheap to maintain, and has some quarks, but for high performance it is a good value.

2 out of 5 stars Epson R2400 Short Falls   April 13, 2007

I purchase quite a bit of equipment for my company and I have to say this was one of the more disappointing ones. The deficiencies in this printer are only exaggerated by Epson's non English speaking technical people. And on top of that, Epson agrees there are issues that reduce the unit's capabilities. Wait until you have to replace all 8 cartriges when all you need is black. The drivers don't let you specify. There is an after market driver available, but get ready to put out $600. Then you have to usually special order those 8 cartriges. I could go on and on, but it would just take less time to buy a different printer.

5 out of 5 stars the best printer ever   February 21, 2007

I have used this printer at school and decided to get one for myself since I'll be graduating. It is the best photo printer I have used and gives consistently good relults. I don't even have much of a calibration problem. The inks are expensive, but well worth the quality.
