Love It July 20, 2008 This product was given as a gift. Though it is easy to setup and get it started. Does wonderful job on the slides and negatives.Designed for easy use and does a great job with the photo's even when they are very old pictures. Would recommend to anyone.
Good bye, ALBUMS! July 10, 2008 Great product for my MAC. It was time to take care of all the aging photo albums and this is a great tool. An individual photo takes about 40 seconds to scan, but if you put up to 5 photos on and separate them, it knows that they are separate photos and does them all in same time. Has great buttons to renovate color etc.
Very Happy!!! July 7, 2008 I really love this scanner. I was looking for one to transfer a lot of my Dad's slides (from his childhood and honeymoon). It was going to cost me $5 a slide to have them digitized at a local place and with 100s of slides that just wouldn't work. I read every review out there and finally settled on this one because of the reported quality and the great price. In the end I figured I would spend less money and see what would happen. I LOVE IT. It has done a really great job with the slides. Even some of the ones I thought were a lost cause have turned out great. It is super easy to use. The only thing is I'm scanning at higher resolutions and it takes 25-30 minutes for every 4 slides. But totally worth it!!!!
Functional, reasonably priced July 2, 2008 The scanner works very well in both modes, transparency and reflective. It is quite simple and intuitive. The major difference between the 4490 and its more expensive high end Epson models is size - it will only accomodate one 4x6 cm negative at a time instead of three.
For 35mm Positive Slides June 20, 2008 The first one arrived "broken" (the scanner slide stayed locked; that reduced it two stars). I decided to send it back and try another one. On the second try, all worked. I have processed about 20 slides, previous Amazon wisdom from reviewers proved invaluable (search for 35mm under reviews for best settings & artifact info). The scans are not like the original, but good enough for my naked eye! All in all, it is great for the money.
