A good product for the price! July 24, 2008 9 out of 11 found this review helpful
I received this scanner about 4 months ago as a gift and whenever I have the time, I scan 100 of my 1400 plus slide collection. I had trouble running it on my XP computer as I ran out of memory. I have since purchased a Vista PC and it works fine. Although some of the slides scan a little on the dark or light side, for the most part, they come out pretty darn good, especially when you consider some of them are over 40 years old. Geesh, that makes me old, too:) If you have the time and patience, this scanner is for you.

Terrible time trying to install .. actually caused my computer to shut down. I will be returning this to Brookstone ASAP
Great gift for anyone with old slides June 12, 2008 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
I got this for my dad and he loved it. We had boxes of old slides in our basement for years that we never got to look at. Now that we have this scanner, he's scanned in hundreds of slides to his computer. We can now see our old family pictures on the computer. Brings back lots of memories : ). Quality is good and easy to use, too.
Faulty installation software June 1, 2008 32 out of 36 found this review helpful
I recently bought this scanner from Brookstone, for $129. Alas I didn't do my research before buying a slide scanner, or I would have realized there were much better scanners on the market for the same price or less. Furthermore, this model (purports) to work only on Windows XP & Vista only, and not on MAC (to which I'll be moving soon). Finally, I was never able to install the driver properly. Although the software included on the cdrom did not show any error when it installed the driver, my XP could never recognise the device. Brookstone could provide me with virtually no support or assistance. They don't even have a technical support department. After doing a great deal of experimentation, I found that there was a missing file, which the cdrom did not contain or at least couldn't provide. Fortunately I was able to return the scanner to the vendor (at my expense) for a full refund.
