Perfect for Sony w580i October 9, 2008 I got this for my Sony w580i walkman phone. It's funny--the phone was free with a 2-year subscription renewal, but the card was around 50 bucks. It's too bad that Sony devices like to use their proprietary card, but hey, at least for 50 bucks, I have practically my entire music collection on my phone, around 6.5GB of MP3s encoded at 192kbps, and I still have plenty of space on the card for custom ringtones, taking snapshots, etc.
This card (or a similar high-capacity one) is a MUST have if you really want to get the most out of your Sony phone. I think it's actually part of their strategy... Well, I definitely recommend SanDisk--they are a high quality brand for solid-state devices and memory cards--this is my 4th or 5th product from SanDisk.
The only thing I regret, slightly, is buying the OEM/bulk-packaging version of this card (saved about 5-10 bucks than retail packaging), so it didn't come with the original packaging, warranty information, etc. But hey, if this performs like all of my other SanDisk devices, I won't even need to worry about that.
With this device, it has practically made my MP3 player obsolete. I also recommend buying an audio 3.5mm adapter (search Ebay or MeritLine or Amazon commonly purchased with) so you can really enjoy the phone/card combo.
Also, I recommend getting a card reader along with this card. Never access memory cards through a device connected to your computer through USB--it's too slow, and sometimes your device can freeze, etc. Card readers are fast and efficient. I have the SanDisk Extreme-something X-in-1 card reader, that works when this M2 card is used with the larger M2-Memory Stick Pro DUO adapter.
Good price, lots of memory October 3, 2008 I bought this for mine or my wife's phone, I can't remember. Anyways, it was affordable, it works, and it gives you a lot of memory. Just assess what your needs are, if you want to store lots of applications/ music on your phone then get yourself a lot of memory, otherwise, you can spend less and get less memory. I have used SanDisk memory cards for awhile, they have always worked well so I continue to buy their products. In general, I think it doesn't matter all that much which company you choose to buy memory cards from; it's like buying bottled water, they are all the same, so whatever gives you piece of mind, stick with that one.
Works Great in W580i September 30, 2008 I bought 3 of these for our families Sony Ericsson's W580i phones. They work great. We have plenty of room for our songs, pictures and videos now.
Watch out - shows up only as 4GB September 24, 2008 The product was good and was shipped a little earlier than expected, so can't really compain about the service. But it only shows up as 4GB on my Sony ericsson phone W580i. Just wanted to let everyone know that you can only use it only as a 4GB card. May be there is a hack for it, but I dont know it yet. Also, its a bit too slow while transfering files. Wonder if we can use it in the HD camcorders.
Scan Disk 8g August 31, 2008 It works perfectly with my w580 even though it said it would work with a 4g
