5 out of 5 stars A lot of projector for the buck   July 7, 2008
I could not be happier with my projector. The HC 1500 is very good. I am using it in my basement in a recent remodel which ended up being a 500 sqf home theather/ media center. The wall (not using screens or other artifacts) it is projecting is a 150" (diagonal). The only thing that surprise me in a not so positive way was the distance the projector requires away from the wall in order to get that size of screen which is around 20 ft away. I am glad I chose the Vantage Point CGUPM12-S Universal Front Projector Mount because I ended up in need to mount against the opposite wall in order to don't lose any size in projection. Thios is my first projector so this maybe a caracteristic all others wqoul have anyway.

NOW LETS TALK ABOUT THE PICTURE. OMG. OMG. OMG. What a picture. And the blacks!! Perfect.
If you don't get a good picture with this equipment is because the source you are feeding it with is not good quality, I have nearly 100 music DVDs and you can see the difference in between them. Some have very good picture quality - some don't, so we can't expect the projector to fix it. Watch Shania Twain's "That don't impress me much" video to have your mouth falling from your head. The colors will blow your mind (besides she is a steal :D).

5 out of 5 stars Excellent projector...   July 5, 2008
I bought this after weeks of searching for a projector to use as a home "drive-in" setup. For those of you who want to take advantage of warm summer nights (with little to no wind!) this projector is perfect! You will have to wait until dusk to get a decent image on a decent screen, but by the time it gets dark you will have a spectacular image. The screen I'm using is 120" and the projector fills it up perfectly. The clarity and colors are fantastic for a lower end projector. Ease of use is great also. Comes with everything you need to plug in your input source (if it's not an Apple product).

The 1500 is truly a great way to get into the home theater hobby and start building your dream setup. I bought a screen from Dell, but Amazon had some great deals also. Drive-in setup cost was this:

Projector $760
Screen $130
Fence poles $ 20
Umbrella stds. $ 60

Total $970

If you have about $1000 you can have a great drive-in experience every night with family and/or friends and the added plus of being able to take it where you want to.

5 out of 5 stars Home projector   June 30, 2008
When comparing price to performance I do not think that this projector could be beat. I am projecting on a 120" Elite 16:9 from 19' away and we receive an awesome picture. Machine seems extremely quiet compared to some. Set up and adjustments were a breeze.

5 out of 5 stars Biggest Bang for Your Buck   June 26, 2008
You can stop your research now, this is the best projector for you dollar. The most inputs, great lumens, easy to use and projects a great image. Our budget did not allow for a super projector, but it seems we got one anyway. I have never gone wrong with Mitsubishi. Beware the projector salesmen groups, wow are they salesmen, watch out what you sign up for on the net! Just purchase from Amazon and all is good. Another quick note, I went to all the big electronics stores, Fry's, Best Buy, etc. and this unit blows all their display models away, most did not have HDMI, the only way to fly in the hook up department

4 out of 5 stars Good buy   June 23, 2008
The amount of positive feedback and price of this unit is what made me choose this projector for my living room tv.

I have this unit ceiling mounted throwing a 92" picture. I have it hooked up to an HD directv receiver, a PS3 and a laptop.

I'm very happy with the picture quality. It's plenty bright despite the fact I am throwing onto a beige wall and I do have 2 windows that attempt to wash the picture... yet it's bright enough I can still run the bulb on low to extend the bulb life! The picture is sharp and offers rich color. I don't see any artifacts either. I give it an A+

One thing I'm not fond of is how high the picture throws on the wall. I adjusted the mount to tilt down to get the picture where I wanted which leads to top keystone. I used the keystone adjust to fix the picture but I would have prefered this to throw a bit more level since keystone correction builds a bit of a light border around the picture. This doesnt bother me too much.

The only thing I dislike about the projector is its lack of drivers/computer support. All the other display devices I have hooked my laptop up to get recognized as display devices and install to my computer. I'm able to output native resolution as a result. With this projector it shows up as unknown display device and ATI doesn't have the right output resolution (1320x720). I tried third party drivers b/c they let me output almost any resolution which fixes that problem however, they caused my card to be unstable so I stopped hooking up my laptop and now stream content from the PS3. Wish Mitsu would put out a driver for it. This is the reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5.

Bottom line: great picture and good reliable unit. 92" picture for less money than a plasma/lcd = winner.
