5 out of 5 stars Love it!   June 16, 2008
This is the second Sigma lens I've bought. They're extremely sturdy and well built. I can't believe how great they are for the price. I probably won't buy any other brand now.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent Lens   June 13, 2008
I'll admit that in lower light, this is a bit slow focusing, but the images are great and I am very pleased. I have used the Canon lens (borrowed from a friend of mine) and this did the same job for 5/8 the cost.

4 out of 5 stars One of the best entry-level lenses out there   May 22, 2008

Got this lens a couple weeks ago, and have not been disappointed yet.

Pros: Works great with a tripod, shots are clear and sharp across the entire focal range. The zoom and focus rings move very smoothly, and I had no problem getting great macro shots after only a little practice switching between modes. Another example of expected Sigma quality at a great price.

Cons: Don't expect clear shots if using it hand-held unless you're shooting faster than 1/1000 shutter speed, hand shake is very noticeable even in the 70-100mm range. Mounted on my Canon 350D, auto-focus only works 50% of the time, often it could not find the subject in the 200-300mm range. Luckily manual focus is fairly smooth compared to other lenses in this price range.

I am loving this lens, it works very well for what I am doing with it. Great nature, flower and even kid shots. On occasion the AF can be too slow for high action shots, but most of the time it's just fine. Highly recommended for any amateur getting into photography.

5 out of 5 stars Simply Awesome!   April 28, 2008

I am so happy I bought this lens for my Canon D400, and if you go for it, you will be too. I'll admit I was a bit skeptic because of its low price, but after playing with it for a couple of hours, I'm convinced it's simply an awesome lens for the price I paid... 'nuff said.
