2 out of 5 stars you get what you pay for   August 21, 2007
1 out of 1 found this review helpful

I have had this phone for over a year and now rarely make phone calls due to the unreliability of this phone. On 3 of 4 calls made, it will, almost without fail, make a loud buzzing noise (able to be heard by both parties)and not reconnect to the line, causing you to have to disconnect and redial. Sometimes it doesn't even ring when I have an incoming call and I miss the few phone calls I still get. I have also met 2 other people with this phone through my work who absolutely hate it but, like me, are locked in because they can't afford to upgrade and their plans won't let them change. I have met one person who has it that has no problems with it at all. If you are looking for a cheap phone, you may not want to take your chances with this one

1 out of 5 stars Worst Phone Ever!   August 16, 2007

I have had this phone for a year and a half and I hate it. I replaced through the warranty once but it still doesn't work right. I will be replacing it with a new phone this month. It turns itself off or turns off the sound all the time. I constantly have to reset it in order for me to hear or for it to ring. Sometimes I need to take the battery out and put it back in just to turn it on again. Do yourself a favor and do not buy this phone!

2 out of 5 stars Camera woes ruin otherwise decent phone   August 2, 2007
1 out of 1 found this review helpful

I had this phone for about two years, and have recently moved onto a newer one. What I wanted were the basics: good sound quality, good reception, and a decent way to sync my contact information between my laptop and my phone. This model had all three of those attributes (I ended up using the internal bluetooth connection to communicate with iSync on my Mac: worked without a problem).

Why only two stars then? Well, the camera on this phone ruins it as a product for two basic reasons.

1. There is no way to connect this phone via USB to a Mac, which means the camera is useless unless you subscribe to a data service and e-mail the pictures to yourself. As my plan is voice-only, I couldn't get photos onto and off of the phone.

2. (and this is the real deal breaker) The camera button on the phone is too sensitive, and the camera shutter noise is too loud. Since I carry the phone in my pocket, the sensitivity means I would get 40-50 photos of the inside of my pocket every day. Aside from filling up the phone's memory and requiring me to delete them, the loud "click" noise would be very embarrassing when it went off during business meetings, (even worse) while changing at the gym, at dinner, etc. There is no way to disable this button, and no way to disable the noise either. I looked around on-line, and found that many, many people complain about this. One person had a brilliant idea which ended up working for me: jam a toothpick in between the camera button and the phone casing, and break the tip off. Yes, that disables the camera button, but since I don't use it that often, it was worth it to turn off the camera noise.

After almost two years of use, the screen finally went blank (another reason for the two stars), and as the phone is no longer under warranty, it's time to move onto a different phone.

Pros:
price
reception
voice quality
bluetooth connectivity

Cons:
camera button
camera connectivity
camera noise
durability

2 out of 5 stars Bad phone, good features   July 29, 2007

So I had this one for almost a year now... within that year i've replace it twice! i hate the fact that the screen blanks out all the time. Good thing i had warranty on it or else i wouldn't get it for a second time. I'm mad because right not as we speak the screen is broken once again! for the second time! i love the fact that the phone has sooo many great features, and it works great but when it's dropped or turned off the screen will blank out. I still have my warranty for another month but i'm not willing to replace this phone for the 3rd time.. it's a waste of time! so if u need a good phone that will last more than a year then don't get this phone it will be a waste of your time!

2 out of 5 stars Bad phone - Good features (except PTT)   July 15, 2007
1 out of 1 found this review helpful

I got this phone about a year ago. Not many reviews at that time - but most were good. I got it because it had many of the features that I wanted (camera, quad band, calendar, internet capability). The phone features work well (calendar, alarms, address book, games) thus the 2 stars. The reception has been lousey most of the time. I almost always have difficulty hearing people when they call. If cingular/att has 'the fewest dropped calls' - I hate to think about how many dropped calls with other companies & phones. The phone started freezing up a lot over the last 3-6 monthes. I can barely get service at my home and I am assured that there are two towers nearby. (I never had these problems with US Cellular) I was getting signal at work - but now my phone shows 5 bars and I am only getting every other word (and vice versa). The bars seem to fluctuate rapidly even when standing or sitting still. I just got a new 'sim' card - but that does not seem to make a difference. Same problem with the PTT button that others have. Very dissapointed with Sony and with ATT/Cingular. Maybe all of us with bad phones need to get together!
