3 out of 5 stars It's a decent phone. But ...   September 10, 2008
Overall, this phone is OK. The mini display is to dark to see because of the background color and the small font. I agree with other reviewers about the manual. This is the worst manual I've seen. Also I find nowhere in the manual which tell how to set up the Speakerphone feature. Anyone knows how to do this?

this phone might not be the best quality phone on the market, but it sure is admirably tough. i've gone through 2 of these phones (kind of contradicts what i just said...but just wait)... the first time i was jogging and it flipped out of my coat pocket and smashed against the concrete. the screen was broken sideways, so nothing was coming up...obviously. however, i could still dial numbers! (blindly of course)... but the day came when the front screen just popped off... so onto the new one.

this last one just won't die... i want it to so i can get a new one... but man, it sure is hanging on. at work one day i smashed the front against a wall on accident, so the front screen (when the phone is closed...that front) just shows cracks. the back lid won't stay on, i've had to tape it on forever now. this means that the battery is very vulnerable to popping off easily. this has all happened in the shower (hanging your arms out of the shower to text probably isn't the best idea) on two occasions. the battery was wet, and more importantly the inside of the phone got wet. well, after a brief drying off period, boom! it was back in the game. i've found that cell phones are convenient things to throw when you're upset, so my phone has dealt with plenty of this. it has gotten to the point however... where the screen won't come up when i open the phone. i've found however that if i keep flipping it open, after 20 or so flips the screen will pop up... yes this is a hassle. i don't shut my phone any more :-)

no this isn't the best quality phone... it's very basic. but after the beating this thing has taken, it deserves some credit. thrown, drenched, dropped... still finds that it can function. if you're a phone junkie and loves endless options... well this isn't the phone for you. if you're like me and use your phone for calls and texting only and you find that you're a phone abuser and like to make things last as long as possible... well, then this is a decent choice.

3 out of 5 stars Nice but could be much better......   August 4, 2008

I have had the phone for about 2 weeks now and so far the phone is nice but could be better in some aspects. The manual is thick but very generic on how to use the phone. It simply explains what each item is rather then how to use each item clearly. The speaker is a bit finicky and somewhat low. Maybe I am looking in the wrong section but to hear the ring-tones to pick one out it is so low you need to hold it directly to your ear and that is with the volume all the way up. The loaded ring-tones are basically useless and outright stink. The voice dialing is useless and makes error over and over again. You can not.....and I repeat you CAN NOT create your own "Voice Dialing Tags"....it is automatic and can not be edited. For instance......If one name in your Address Book is "Timmy"....now we all know how to pronounce it I am sure......but the phone sees it as "Tim-eye" and it can not be edited......which I think is really stupid. So I don't use the function due to the uslessness of it.
Overall the phone is OK and it does what it is supposed to do but it could do it a little better in my opinion.
I would recommend this phone if you want just a basic phone, it gets you by....

1 out of 5 stars Bad Phone   August 1, 2008

This phone stinks. The user interface to set the various options are not very intuitive and the phone is not very user-friendly. I could figure out all of the options on my other phoens without the user manual but I keep having trobule with this one. The other day I tried to send a text message but it would not send and I could not figure out why.

My reception on this phone is terrible, although to be fair, that problem may be attributed to my carrier.

But my biggest complaint-annoyance is a problem that a lot of other people seem to have too. One day I suddenly had a headset icon show up on the screen and I could not hear anything on the phone at all. Dead silence. Apparantly this phone has an issue with randomly thinking that there is a headset attached to it when there isn't. I spent about an hour looking for a headsert setting but there isn't one. Then I spent a half an hour on the internet trying to figure it out. Did the "take out the battery" thing and it worked, but an hour later it happened again and this time taking the battery out did not fix it.

Don't buy this phone. I've had four cell phones now and this is the only one I seem to keep having trouble with.

4 out of 5 stars Works for me   July 12, 2008

I don't like paying for cell phones and got this free from AT&T by renewing my 2 year contract. I care most about battery, call quality, and texting. This phone does what I need it to do.

The camera definitely produces grainy pictures, but I don't care about the camera.
