1 out of 5 stars Infuriating Phone.   October 6, 2008
The other reviews of the Nokia 6555 do an excellent job of summing up the problems that come with this phone; however, my frustration with this product is so intense that I feel compelled to repeat what has been written above.
My phone is about 8 months old and here are the problems.
1) Drops calls (this could be a network issue and not a phone issue)
2) Powers off in mid conversation (definitely a phone problem)
3) Places a call, but nothing happens. The screen says, "Calling," but nothing happens. This lasts about 40 seconds before the phone turns off.
4) Does not go to "sleep" mode (the outer display remains lit draining the battery)
5) Does not hold a charge longer than 18 hours (my old Samsung phone could go 4 days without recharging)
6) Has 3 (and counting) power off buttons. By this I mean that in addition to the official power button, the 7 key and the 1 key when pressed also turn off the phone. Trying to delete voice mail messages (with the 7 key) is infuriating.
7) Text templates can not be deleted. Some people use these cookie cutter messages, but I don't. I'd like to delete them (particularly the ones with punctuation errors), but I can't.
I could go on and on, but the point is: I do not recommend this phone.

1 out of 5 stars I Hate This Phone   September 26, 2008

I hate this phone.

1. Pitiful battery life. OMG, it's the worst I've seen.

2. The d@mn Push To Talk button on the outside of the case is always activating. I don't use PTT. So, when I have the phone in my jeans pocket it constantly beeps as I stand up and sit down.

3. The volume control on the outside of the case is in an awkward location. It's on the flip cover so if you're on a call and want to adjust the volume you have to contort your hand and slip the phone downwards in your palm to adjust it. All the while trying not to drop the darn thing.

My first Nokia and will be my last.. dropped calls, phone switches off automatically, smarchip registration failed message and battery power that is laughable!! It SUX.. and ATT customer service is horrendous.. I am going to get a replacement refurbished phone-- I have no hope that it will be any better.. Lets see.. I wish I could get my 200 dollars back!its the worst piece of equipment ever. STAY AWAY

The phone is not mobile, makes a good landline as it needs to be constantly connected to a charger, the display is primitive with a lower resolution for a 3g phone, the 3G speed is the slowest (some 256/356kb theoretical practically it means 10-12 kbps), it has a bad speaker, both the phone as well as the loudspeaker, there is a constant buzzing , calls get disconnected, and the first few seconds of any call you cant hear a thing!!
This phone is unacceptable in any respect considering it is new (2008).They should not have released this phone in the market at all.

1 out of 5 stars Waste of money!!   April 1, 2008

I fell in love with Nokia phones in the early 90's. I've loved every Nokia I've ever owned except this one. Within one week the outside mini display stopped working. It looks like a giant splatter mark although the phone was not mistreated. Today I noticed that the main display has started blinking and then cutting off. I tried every setting the phone had to stop the blinking. After cruising through message boards I have dicovered that other people have had the same problems with the mini display and the blinking main display. I wanted so much to love this new phone and am sorely disappointed that I cannot. I will try using the warranty through Nokia to get the phone fixed, but that leaves me with out a cell phone for two weeks. I've also heard they are bad about claiming that the phones are abused and that's the reason they no longer work, but I'll see for myself what they say... At this point in time I would not recommend this phone to my worst enemy.
