5 out of 5 stars Best basic phone I have ever had   September 26, 2008
Stumbled here on the email Amazon sent about phones etc.

Anyway I was surprised to find that they still offer this phone, what with all the changes they pretend to make.

Having said that its clear to me from the comments, you either get a lemon or or a phone built like a tank. I got a tank. A tank that has all rights to die and doesn't.

Where I am currently, in a jungle forest on a mountain in the Caribbean, everything dies including people occasionally. Somehow through it all this phone journey's on. If you could see it you would not touch it. All markings are worn off. Dirt and debris including moisture fill every nook and cranny even under the screens. I know things are living in there. When they made me take the battery out in the airport one time they stepped back. How this thing continues to keep going I have no clue. It has been dropped on construction sites, sat through thunder storms and 100% humidity on a daily basis. We won't even talk about the salt residue such that I can't even read the screen half the time. Yet it keeps on going.

You have probably figured out by now I simply need a phone that makes and receives calls and continues to charge. This one does it.

One bonus and a most important one here is I can manually select, under settings and connectivity, which carrier I want to use when several are available. What? Different islands have different carriers with different signal strengths. If you don't pay attention, and most people don't, a stronger signal takes over your phone and you end up with a $200 phone call. Emergency boat phone or British telecom will nick you for $3.99 a minute.

So in conclusion if you want a phone to make and receive calls, decent battery life, something you can drop and sit on, this is the phone for you. Better still it comes with a Tarzan ring tone!!!!!

1 out of 5 stars Don't waste your time or money   September 6, 2008
I have earned the right to give this phone 1 star, being that I have bought 2 in the past 3 years. As of Thursday night the 2nd one died and I don't even want to get it fixed. I am convinced that this model (and maybe brand)is not of good quality. The screen went out on my first phone. My 2nd phone did the same thing so I had it repaired (for free because I only had it for 3 months). Then 7 months later the phone would shut off with no notice with a charged battery. That went on for 3 months until the other night when the screen lit up but it was BLANK!!!!! I will never buy another Sony Ericsson AGAIN. Right now I have my eye on the LG VU.

2 out of 5 stars Was ok for a little while   July 7, 2008
I got this phone from AT&T's store almost two years ago. It worked wonderfully and I loved it until just a couple weeks ago. I have read about it and almost everyone else who has gotten this phone had the same problem. The internal screen just stays completely white and won't change and the external is completely blue. They just won't change. The phone still works, you just can't see what you're doing. Overall, I would not recommend this phone if you are under a 2-year contract

1 out of 5 stars If you enjoy using your cell phone- don't buy this one!   July 2, 2008
I have had this phone for 2 years (stuck in a contract) and it is the worst phone I have ever had. I replaced the phone prior to the 30 days thinking I got a bad phone but the same problems occured with the new phone as well. I will never purchase a Sony Ericsson phone again. I have had the most dropped calls with this phone. The phone will lock or freeze in the middle of calls and I have to take out the battery and restart the phone- and my conversation. Sometimes after doing this the phone still doesn't work. It likes to take pictures when it is in my pocket or in my purse. It also doesn't always want to turn on or off. I have to hold down the button multiple times before it will even think about turning off/on. I would not recommend this phone to anyone.

3 out of 5 stars Had phone for over 1 1/2 years   April 10, 2008
When we got our service plan we got two of these phones. For the most part they worked just fine. The battery life is a bit low but we never did a lot of talking on it so we could always charge it over night. One of the phones just started not charging a few months ago so we had to get something different. I've always used a protective case on mine so the screen has not been touched and it looks good even after so much time and going everywhere. I do not like the PTT button like many other users, but since it isn't activated it doesn't really bother me. My favorite part of this phone is the alarm, it is really easy to set, and will go off until you turn it off, which is great for forcing me out of bed in the morning. When our contract is up, we will probably switch to something completely different, but it has been a good reliable phone for the most part.
